Looking for a 10' step ladder and considering Werner and Louisville with a 375# capability. Anyone have any thoughts on quality? Also, where do you get the best deal on these?

You can't go wrong with either of those brands, it's the class you need to look at. If you're on the east coast you could get a Lynn also (made in Lynn MA). Unfortunately type 1aa (375#) may be tougher to come by, infact I've never seen one or knew they made higher than 1A until just searching before sticking my foot in my mouth in this post. I have a type 2 warner extension and a type 1a louisville (or lynn - label is long gone and it's 40+ years old) and the difference in weight and stiffness is very evident. the 1a is tough to carry at times at 28' long.
Do you really need that high a rating in a step ladder?

I've used, and sold, both brands in various careers. I agree with Copilot. Both brands build good quality ladders, but the Louisville seems just a bit more. I also agree with Justme, The Lynn Ladder brand (if you can find it in your area) is also a good ladder. On par with Louisville.

My pick would be the Louisville or Lynn.

Just circling back on this thread because I feel like a got a good deal. I end up purchasing the Werner 7310 from Lowes. http://www.lowes.com/pd_65500-50116...erSearch=werner+7310&productId=1191805&rpp=32 I ended up paying $203 after using the 10% coupon codes you can find via slickdeals.net. This was shipped to store for free so out the door with tax was about 222. Everywhere else I checked it was about $320 either shipped or pick up in a store.

I picked it up last night and it appears to be very solid. The top plate is all aluminum that is surprisingly thick. I've always had fairly cheap garbage step ladders before, so this feels like a tank. I think this ladder will last a long time and serve us well.

I too have not been able to determine a significant difference between the two, but I don't deal with ladders everyday in my work (altho I have at least 8 around from 4' to 28' extension). Kinda seems like Chevy vs Ford provided you stay within the same material and weight rating, but I'd bet some have certain trays or pockets that painters or other pro's prefer.

One of my favorite ladders for in-shop projects is a dual-sided 4'. We used one of these once when building a wireline truck to repeatedly access the rear. Nice, heavy duty, not too big, and you could walk up either side. Very practical in certain applications like this. Takes up more room when stored folded though as it doesn't fold down as small. I actually ordered this from HD online many years ago (best price at the time) and they shipped it UPS in a big cardboard box.
