Picked up these old ice tongs today for 2 bucks and was wondering if anyone had ever heard of the name on them? Since I couldnt find anything on google, I'm thinking they were sold at a general store and that was just their name on the tool, but was hoping to get a second opinion

Thanks

Or the property of the west Phil (ice) store house. Possibly used by the drivers, or warehousemen, or given to Residential customers (least likely in my mind)

Ice tongs! Brings back memories. When I helped my Pop on his milk truck, in the mid-1950's my job was to ice down the milk crates every summer morning at the local ice plant. He'd buy a couple of large pieces of ice, carry them out to the truck using tongs just like that one, and I'd go to work on them in the back of the milk truck, chipping them into small pieces, and putting the pieces on top the milk bottles.

That would be my guess.

There is an iconic building in Northeast Philly with the name "Philadelphia Warehousing & Cold Storage Company" on the top of the southeast facade, known simply and famously by Philly people as "Philly Cold" for short. You can't miss it from I-95 North near the Ben Franklin bridge. If you're on street level on Spring Garden approaching Delaware it rises - as if from history itself, 120 feet high, massive and monolithic, without a window in sight. It was actually still in operation up until last year (albeit with much more modern refrigeration equipment...) when it shut down and promptly sold for a cool (pun intended) $12,000,000. There is a gigantic 9/11 mural on the other facade. No plans have been announced what the renovated space will be.
