West Yorkshire recycled garage

Well after months and months of sneaking about in the shadows I'm finally going to start my own build.

The plan has always been to use sectional panels to build my garage, the size I'm hoping for is 4500 x 6500 with a eaves height of 2400 so I can get my Land rover Discovery in there to work on it.

I've been collecting panels for a while now and storing them until I had enough to start the build, and today managed to grab this for free



I now have enough to justify flattening my shed and laying a concrete slab so as soon as the last of the snow buggers off I shall make a start..

Welcome Peter, I've an extra large sectional garage in the past, the panels were very heavy. I look forward to seeing the build. Your not far from me over the Pennines.:3gears:

Hi, nice idea, nice to see some positives on concrete garages, its how you put them together that matters, were all waiting for the snow to go to crack on with our projects

Theres been no snow here this year. First year i've had a RWD car as a daily driver too and i was looking forwards to some sideways action. :(

holy ****, thats a good bit of snow, we had 2" of snow in dublin last week n the place stopped dead, 5hrs to travel 45mile home.....

these sectional garages are pretty popular in the uk, very hard to come by over here plus they are cheap as well

My kids were born in the hospital in Blackburn (well the big new one on top of the hill) as we lived in Rossendale until three years ago. My wife is a local girl, grew up in tottington, lived in Haslingden, Belthorn, Crawshawbooth and then for abouyt 15 years we lived in Bacup. I moved up there in 1994 until we moved three and a bit years ago.

I do miss the snow down here, had barely a flake this winter.

Well what a wasted morning, turned up with trailer, friend to help and a boot full of tools only the be told that the guys wife had sold the garage to her friends husband.

Oh well suppose I can always be getting on with the footings and base...

but until the ice and snow had gone i'm off to the shed to play with my new toy, never done any TIG welding before so this should be interesting.....

That ***** - you could try looking in the Free-ads, etc or sometime panels come up cheap on ebay

Another option would be to contact some garage companies (i've been past 1 in Pudsey on the main road but can't remember the name) - some of these remove old garages before erecting a new 1 so might have spare panels.
We had cromptons remove an existing garage before the put up the new one 4 years ago, not sure what they did with the old panels?

I lived about 1/2 a mile from the border with West Yorkshire for 15 years. I think it was still legal to shoot any yorkshireman found in the town after dark..............

There was an annual competiton near me at a place called Ramsbottom, the black pudding hurling world championships. The aim of the game was to knock some big fat yorkshire puddings off a wall by throwing a lancashire black pudding at them.
