Afternoon, I just brought home a new-to-me Smith torch setup. The only thing missing is flashback arrestors. I’m looking at the Western Equipment arrestors from Airgas because they’re half the price of similar from Miller, Harris, or Victor.

Any feedback on these? I’ve never bought a set before.

Not exactly relevant to the question at hand, but does anyone use 2 sets of flashback arrestees? One right before the torch handle, and one right before the regulators? Kind of a belt and suspenders type situation? Thanks!

From what I’ve been seeing, the recommendation is check valves at the regs and arrestors at the torch. Extra fittings can cause low flow, which can actually cause popping or flashback.
