Westinghouse 100" wide span industrial ceiling fan

I installed a 100" Westinghouse ceiling (7224900) fan in my shop. Fan is remote control only. I've got it wired up with 122v at the fan but it won't start. Instructions say that the toggle inside of the remote must be on forward or reverse or fan won't run, which I've checked. The connections I've made are simply hot, neutral, and ground. all other connections are prewired with pin outs and connectors. When I hit the remote a red light illuminates on the transmitter box so I think the transmitter is working. Any ideas?

If you're sure you followed the installation instructions explicitly take it back.

Obviously make sure the power to the circuit is on. (sorry!)
Fresh batteries with correct +/- orientation.
Make sure the slide switch on the back of the remote is to one side or the other, not in the middle.

Is there a code in the fan control that needs to be matched to remote?

Kurt were you able to resolve this? Ironically I was just about to pull the trigger on this fan in black.

@Brokenpuck, one man's troubles shouldn't keep you from buying. If there was a batch problem that would have been long ago. There is a procedure outlined in the instructions about 'pairing' the remote to the fan. Takes 30 seconds.

Chances are the OP figured this out and didn't want to appear embarrassed.

General throw it out there without researching first question. Can any similar common consumer fan be installed in a conventional, switched fashion not using the remote BS ? - thanks ( not afraid of embarrassment or shame, total Elect newb)

Also - Confirmed with neighbor who will be assisting - In addition to 10-3 + ground NM-B wire I will need a 2-pole 30 amp circuit breaker for a garage type heater. The heater states " 240-volt - 5000 watts - 17,500 BTU" Not knowing anything, I can easily find and source 2-pole 30 amp 240 volt CB but they range in price from about $25 to $250 each. I am concerned with the huge disparity in price which again is probably explained by my lack of knowledge. Siemens, GE, Square D etc. What should i look for ? thanks. All new install, new 200 amp panel.

Some of them can, others have to have the remote.

The breaker will be brand dependent on the type of panel. If it's something modern, Sq D, Siemens, GE, Eaton, etc, it should run $15 to $25 at the box stores. What kind of panel is there now? If you don't know, open the door and take a picture.

Thanks Sparky. The new panel is in Idaho, I am in CA. It was brand new out of the wrapped taped factory box. But that's all the info I have really. I guess Ill have to wait till I get back there. Its rural and map dot so the hardware store is hit or miss. I'll try with two Box store units and keep the receipt. Prolly a concern over little. I will definitely make sure to check when I get my fan.
