Westinghouse genrerator opinions

Been in the market for a new generator. After much debate, i went with a westinghouse 10kpro. It is 10kw run 12.5kw start. Has a 680cc v-twin motor with oil filter. Also includes a remote control start. I was a little worried as westinghouse is a fairly new to the generator business and this particular generator has only been in in production from 2014. There is very little info on the internet about them or this generator. I just picked it up and have yet to start it. They told me the motor is manufactured in china to their specs then the generator is assembled here in the usa. My 2 complaints so far is there is no pull cord for backup starting and there is only 1 supplier in the USA to get parts. The only place to get the oil filter and air cleaner is from an online company called gardner inc. They charge $24 for 1 oil filter, $11 for air filter, and $11 shipping. I have looked high and low for another place for these and i tried to cross reference with no luck. Other than that, i am impressd with the unit even though it has not ran yet. Anybode else have any experience with these gensets of this one in particular?

Ayuh,... At 10k watts, it sounds like a bolt down type generator,....

I have a problem with gasoline gen-sets, as gasoline rots in months now a days,....
Even with stabilizer added, gas don't keep well,...

For a permanent mount gen-set, I personally, would only consider propane/ NG, or diesel,...

Sorry I can't help with your direct question.

I can tell you there is no such thing as "Westinghouse" in the traditional sense. Westinghouse Electric Corporation was dissolved long ago and the various divisions were sold off with the exception of a core part of Westinghouse that was too sensitive to be sold (nuclear, defense, etc.). Many groups who bought the various divisions of Westinghouse Electric pay to use the name and some latter day companies pay for the privilege of using the "Westinghouse" name though their products have no design legacy dating back to Westinghouse Electric Co.

One possibility is to research and find out who is "really" making the generator and small engine. You might then be able to buy parts through the dealer network for those items. Say for example the engine was made by Kohler (I have no idea who actually made your engine)... you might be able to get parts through Kohler dealers or on-line or whatever.

Welcome to the World of "It is what it is", no amount of discussion will change what you bought into what someone else's opinion of what the perfect generator should be.

Your engine is, IMHO, most probably a Chinese clone of some other manufacturers engine. I would first try to determine whose.

Start by searching on the web for any posts regarding Westinghouse generators. Also compare your engine to any other V twin engines you can find.

Search suppliers of oil filters and see what other engines have filters that will fit. You might take a new filter you bought from your only known source to a industrial parts house, Oil Filter Supply comes to mind, and see if they can "match it up".

A word of caution; I own a Harbor Freight clone of a Honda engine and I have it from a usually reliable source that the manufacturer has directed dealers that they are not to sell the genuine parts to repair the cloned engines. I do not know if this is true, so I ask for " parts to fit a Honda", rather than parts for my Honda.

The life in storage of gasoline is problematic, apparently because of the added ethanol. Fuel without ethanol is available.

I just had to chuckle at your second to last sentence:

How can u be impressed with a generator that u have never tried out or ran? It could be a complete piece of sh*t that cant keep the voltage and rpms(and thus Hz) stable.

It is a portable unit and the gas tank has a drain line. 9 gallon tank.
