So i was given this old Westinghouse UW-235 stick welder from a friend for free! I got about 60 feet of lead cable and about 25 feet of 6/2 copper wire for the power cord. After cleaning it up inside, rewiring it, installing new lead connectors and a new electrode holder I was doing some welding with 6013 and it welded very nicely. So im wondering if anyone has any information on Westinghouse welders and or this one in particular as I had never heard of them up until now.

They pop up every now and again. IIRC they were made in the 60's +/- a bit. They were solid units, but usually pretty basic. Back then everybody that made electronics, battery chargers and like the tried to put out a basic stick machine. Westinghouse was actually in the welding business for a long time. Since the 30's I want to say.

With all the lead, sounds like you got a great deal. Post up a picture of the data plate and we might be able to discuss it a bit more. But other wise I'd just clean it out and use it. Those old stick welders were very basic and dang near bullet proof.

Yep, looks like your basic buzz box. Use it and enjoy. What are the 3 receptacles labeled? Hi/Low and ground or work? looks like a AC only machine.
