I finally got the new ones and was able to make a total transformation. Not sure if this is the final arrangement but it works. Top drawer has all sockets 1/4-1/2" and 1/4-3/8" ratchets and extensions.

Kind of a late bump but if they did a group buy that would be awesome. I have been eyeing them for a few years but I felt the price was just tipping the scale on what I felt comfortable paying for socket organizers.

Any sales/offers currently? I'm getting ready to purchase a set.

Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

I don't know but I would assume if enough of us showed interest we might be able to get a group buy. Does anyone want to contact them about setting up a group buy for garage journal?

Edit: What the hell I sent them an email asking if they would do a group buy. We will see.

I have been wanting to get some of these as well. A group, buy discount could push me over the edge. They were supposed to be expanding their color options. I wonder what there offers are now?

I'd be interested in a group buy also. Thought I saw in another thread on here a while back Westling was looking into making wrench racks, anyone heard anything more about this?

Just buy them. The price of $99 isnt bad and they arent plastic Hansen/HF ****, these will last long enough for your grandkids to pass them on.

Agreed, these are an awesome deal considering they are american made in a machine shop and include free shipping if you get a whole set.

Im not saying they arent a good value for what they are. They are. Just for me personally I cant justify dropping $100 on something like that that I don't need. My interest started with their combo 1/4 and 3/8 rack for my torx sockets. They want $10 for it which is perfectly fine with my but $10 shipping on it seems kind of dumb. I was looking to get them with the full set but I wanted the full set marked with the sizes. So that $100 shipped set is $120 numbered plus $10 more for the small tray I just mentioned. $100 was my threshold for them all.

Now I will say that if the small tray was for example available on amazon with prime for $15 I would already own it. In fact a hesitation of mine is that they aren't available on amazon with prime.

So far I have not had an email response yet.

While we are discussing the westling socket trays, does anyone know if they work well with a full set of impact sockets or is the spacing off and the impacts would interfere with each other?

Not being a smart *** in anyway, i swear to you. You say you want the westlings labeled with sizes. Do you currently have all the sizes they will burn in? If not you may suffer from the OCD that runs rampant on this site and end up spending even more filling those holes with sockets. :dunno:

I totally understand what you are saying. I currently have the harbor freight plastic set and I have almost all of them filled in, or at least enough that I actually care about. Most of my current sockets are the USA craftsman that have the laser etching and it isn't always that easy to see which socket it is. I think it would be easier if the trays had the etching already on them for the full set.

Mini comb 1/4+3/8, I probably wont care or if i do I will get the label maker out and mark them all. That will be for torx and hex anyway.

Depends on what you'd consider a full set. Mine go to 36mm and I had no shot. I think they'll fit up to the 22-23mm ones unless they've changed them since I bought mine. Past that you'll be skipping pegs.

Hmm. My 1/2 go from 11 to 34mm so I guess that is a no go, but it was kind of a cows opinion anyway since their 1/2 tray only goes to 27mm.

but for my chrome sockets my 1/2 go to 27mm.

I'd just like to say that Westling makes the best quality socket rails I've seen by far. I paid full price for all my rails and will be more than happy to do it again. Just a little FYI, Westling Machine is run by a guy and his wife, by the the looks of the trays I figured it was a fully operational and highly staffed machine shop-it is not. So if you guys think that $10 shipping for a whole set of rails is too expensive I dont know what else I can say. They're not some big company that has discounted shipping because they're a high volume seller or anything. Also, the last I heard is that he has to pay a 3rd party to do the anodizing or whatever, so keep that in mind, because he couldnt possibly offer a massive discount because he's not making very much money off of them as it is.

They are worth every penny and then some, IMO. The rails are not for everybody, some people are content with paying $7 for cheap Chinese plastics that do a ****** job at holding the sockets and break, some of us dont mind paying 30-40% more for all metal rails that fit perfectly in your box and dont rattle or fall off when you shut the drawers. Just spend $10-$15 and buy one, see how beautiful they are and feel the heft on that *******. Tip the loaded rail up to 90 degrees and notice that they were actually engineered and manufactured by someone who knows their craft.

A couldn't agree more with everything espy said. Now if only they made shallow wrench rails I'd be in heaven......

Ok I just got contact information from them here is their response. I am going to make a new thread for this.

"Andy,
Yes, we could work out some sort of deal for a group buy. We could offer 10% off, to those who would be interested. We were wondering if some time around labor day would work for you guys, for us to run a sale. Then you guys can spread the word, and we could get some inventory on the shelves. Unless you guys had a better idea, please let me know! I am willing to work with you guys.
Thanks for your interest!
Have a wonderful day!
Pam"

that full set for $99 seems more than fair. these do seem like a pretty viable alternative to the hanson trays, as mentioned

The pricing, even with shipping, is an amazing deal for an American made product. I'd love to see multiple color options, as well as no size engraving on the socket trays...but of course that's all personal preference.

If I wasn't completely outfitted with Ernst rails in my main box, I'd have been all over this back when they were first discussed on Garage Journal.

Even now, I still contemplate buying into the Westling trays and moving my Ernst rails to my secondary box/cart.

Like I said, if other color options were available & no size engraving/etching on the trays...I'd bite in a heartbeat...regardless of cost!

I would opt for the no size option, it gives a lot more flexibility on how to arrange the sockets.

Bumpity bump.

Might be in for a set if the sale goes ahead on Labour Day. Might buy a set around that time no matter what. Need to find a decent toolbox first though...haha.

I wanted to give another shout out to an amazing company. Their product is a work of art compared to the crappy plastic comparables, and their customer service is above exceptional.

I made the mistake of not getting the sizes put on the socket trays, which I wanted. Westling quickly sent me a return ticket and just as quickly replaced my order. It was my fault, but they covered the cost. I will definitely be doing more business with this company as my toolbox grows in size!!!

Having read all the postings here about the Westling Socket Organizers, then viewing the two youtube videos of the same product, I felt compelled to buy the $99 set.

I feel sure I will be very satisfied with the product.....

I bought the package deal set and several others during the Labor Day sale. I am very pleased with the quality and the very fast service. My Hanson socket holders will be going on the market very soon.

Very nice job on that!!!

Do you remember (1) how many hours you spent making this (2) the cost of materials?

Thank you. It's been something like 8 years since I built that, but I do still use it. I don't recall exactly how much time I spent on it, but unless you really like building this kind of thing, or you want a custom arrangement, it's probably a good choice to just buy the ones in this thread. I believe I had around $60 in it.

Lots of love for the Westling trays.
I started with Hanson, then used MTS Magnetic but these are working really well!

Has anyone found a better option for buying internationally than through Westling direct? I'd like to try a 3/8 universal tray, but $60 to ship a $15 tray is steep.
