Can you guys help? I seem to have the market cornered for buying compressors with no identification. There appears to have been a sticker in the front of the lower crankcase, but has been removed. I am hoping someone can visually ID what I have. Hopefully the dimensions will show in the pictures. The flywheel is about 16 " diameter. Is the logo on the oil cap anything common? It is on the compressor in numerous locations. I am hoping to pull it with a true 6hp electric motor. Guy was asking $300. I bought it for $130. Any info/input is appreciated. Curtis E15?

edit: looks like the Kellogg, Curtis (and others) 2 stage ~5 to 15 HP pump. I'm no expert though, someone more knowledgeable will chime in I'm sure.

Yep,I looked up some Curtis units and that's the same logo. Haven't found good pictures of an E15 model though. Thanks Abeo, that's a big help!

I don't think it is a Curtis. The original manufacturer is an Italian company that sold those over here in the 80s. Don't remember the name but harbor freight sold a ton of them. Don't know if you can get any parts though.

It looks like a Chinese import that I worked with in the late 80s'.
fu sheng is what I believe is the manufacturer. Google that and look at the pictures of the compressor.
They were used on a lot of "MADE IN AMERICA" compressor packages and all the major mfgs used them in the low end products. I worked for a custom compressor package builder at the time.

Fu Sheng owns Curtis now, if I recall correctly. That design characteristics of that pump look very similar to the Curtis ES-20 pump in this thread. It looks like it is a Fu Sheng/Curtis pump of some kind, maybe and ES-30 or ES-50.

Here's a Curtis pump manual with exploded diagrams. You may be able to identify the exact model from the drawings.


Edited to add, the threads on the discharge are likely BSP or JIS, not NPT. I cut up a Parker BSP parallel hose fitting to get the swivel portion to make a flare fitting with 5/8 copper tubing, which worked perfectly for mine. I probably should have just taken the male discharge fitting to the local Parker store to identify the correct fitting.

Looking at page 7 of this brochure, the ES-50 is about 23.3" wide, so I'd say that's it.

Thanks guys. After Abeo got me on track with the brand (FS Curtis) I surfed the internet looking at everything Curtis that I could find. And you are right, it is a ES 50. I have it almost plumbed in, hope to finish tomorrow. I am hoping it works well. I find that rebuild parts are plentiful, but dang they are expensive. So...wish me good luck with it, and thanks again. Ron
