In my quest to find a some vintage tool boxes to restore I went to an auction yesterday which featured 1000's of tools. Four hours of my time and $222 got me the following:
Vintage Waterloo top and bottom tool boxes $150
Vintage NIB Sears Airbrush kit $5
8 Klein hardened tip screwdrivers $20
Two low angle block planes (new, a bit of rust) $5
Starrett 6" dial caliper vintage, works perfectly $12
Vintage Craftsman 1/4" drive kit (not complete) $5
3 brand new Unibits #1, 2 and 3 $5
26 NOS Henckel woodworkers' carving tools $20 (not pictured)
The tool boxes are absolutely pristine, drawers are smooth and flawless inside and a few minor scratches and small area of rust on the bottom of the top box, which still has the original sticker on it. I am unsure of the year, but will research it. Has the removable tool tray in the top section in perfect condition. Cleaned her up last night, cut new drawers liners with a mat cutter and loaded her with tools from my crappy "Stack On" garage sale boxes which I am now selling. This set up works very well with my small work area, my motorcycle and mechanic's tools and has the vintage look and deep drawers I wanted. I do not want or need a modern ball bearing slide box, I am not a professional mechanic and wrench and restore vintage British motorcycles in my free time. I am very happy with it.
My Metric, SAE and British Standard Whitworth wrenches.
Now back to my vintage Snap On tool box restoration.
