What a difference trusses make.

I rented a truck crane and had 4 helpers to put the trusses up yesterday. It makes a huge difference in the backyard looking out there now. Once the dormers are in I can start sheathing and putting shingles up. I have to call the truss company on Monday and figure out why I am short two dormer trusses. I can't for the life of me figure out how you can forget to make two trusses and then not check before you ship it out. The attic space is going to be great and it is good to see some progress and get an idea of how it will set in our yard. Here is a pic:

Looks great! I particularly love the trees surrounding the building. I cherish my privacy and like to be as secluded a possible.

I would put a 'man zone patio' off the back of that building where you and your buds could sit around and bench race, drink, grill some burgers, play some poker, swear, piss in the woods etc during good weather. Also makes for a nice little area for you to hang out on the occasion that your S/O kicks you out of the house.

You sir are welcome at my house anytime. :)

FWIW My two oldest girls are trying to stake claim to the loft. Nothing doing.

Nice. That's going to be a serious man-zone when it's done. Looking at the woodpile, I presume provisions have been included for a woodburner, at a minimum?

Good presumption. I will probably heat the garage with a woodburner eventually, but right now the woodpile is for the house which is 100% wood heated.

This picture looks familiar. Wasn't this the build site that got flooded?

Very nice! Where did you have your trusses made? Do folks usually just call their local lumber yard?

Trusses were made by a local truss company. I took plans to 3 different places and they were the ones I felt most comfortable with. They wouldn't sell to me direct so I had to go through Home Depot to purchase them. Here is a shot of the loft I tood today
