My buddy Dana brought by a gift for the Strange Days shop today. For a lot of folks this might seem stupid, but the entire interior of Strange Days is a small "city" mostly made from scavanged or re-cycled material. What you might ask did he bring? Well, here it is. I've been on the lookout for one of these for several years

Is Strange Days open to the public, or at least other garage fanatics? I'm hoping to get over to the Missoula area next summer and would love to see it in person.

I dunno Chaz, going by the date on that thing, is it period correct for your garage? (kidding):bounce: Looks great!

One of these would look right at home in there, even though it may not be period correct.:)

One of my neighbors has a pile of similar hydrants. I was interested in one, but he will only sell them as a lot...for $500...:(

Brought one home 20 years ago for my Lab. He wasn't allowed to cross the street to use the Town's hydrant. Damn thing like to have killed me throwing it in the pickup after I burned the valve rod off with a torch.

It sat in the yard for a few years and the fireman soiliciting donations told me I should really dig out around it cause it was a bit low for hose connection. I told him he'd play hell sucking water out of it anyhow. I finally got around to hammering about 8 feet of 2" heavywall into the clay yard, and stuck the valverod into the pipe. Now they can hook up to it real easy. I'm waiting for the next fireman to stop by and I'll go spin the hydrant around for him.

You think the fact that I have about 30 extinguishers here indicates my confidence in the local fire department?
They have a lovely new 7 million dollar firehouse,
and several half million dollar firetrucks with digital controls,
and a nice new METAL smokehouse for training, with concrete firepit because
the Academy training tower uses propane and that ain't reality,
and a boatload of paid Union firefighters
and a 7 friggin minute dispatch delay
