Not sure if this has been shared here before.
I saw it for the first time to day. A friend shared it with me.
Never have to guess how high your jack stands are and if they are even.

Just get a paint pen and write numbers or letters on each tooth.

^^ I agree, there is a simpler way to accomplish the same goal. Grab a metallic Sharpie, or a paint pen as mentioned above, and have at it.

Maybe I oversimplify things, but I would think just painting every other tooth with one contrasting color of paint should be good enough for a visual reference...

I am truly interested in what kind of paint came to mind that wouldn't work, and how many came to mind that wouldn't work before he asked the question. There might be something I couldn't fathom, such as a paint type that wouldn't work.

Tempera. Only works on porous surfaces, and remains water soluble when dry.

Living in quiet rural Missouri.
i think a potentiometer attached to the stand sides that changes the level of light at a the workbench relative to the height of each stand. a bulb for monitoring each stand height should work.
then measure the lumens of each light bulb and compare and adjust stands accordingly.
