I could have easily topped that 2 years ago . You still have room to walk and pile stuff 
. I have been working on mine for 2 years now 2 steps forward 1 back LOL.

Don't feel bad. I've got a 32x40 shop, and it's such a mess I had to do my engine/trans swap, rewire, power master cylinder conversion on my Suburban in my house's 2-car garage.
And tonight Boy Wonder and I will finish cleaning the garage and tear down the 283 from the Suburban, to be rebuilt as a gasser engine.

Ya got some great stuff. You should be proud. As a suggestion I would degrease and paint the walls , put in better lighting. In this way everything will stand out better.

I had to pickup and pile things up to make room for the motor swap. When I get a bigger place everything is getting organized right down to the last nut.

Ahhhh, no.....that's a friggin' mess!! But what a great space and a bunch of great tools. If you painted and organized, you'd have twice the light and twice the room!
But seriously - shops get messy when you work in them. Just that some guys make it a priority to clean up - unfortunately, it takes time away from the projects!

I say it is the nature of the beast in most shops and comes and goes in waves. You get busy and make a mess, finish the big job and cleanup so you can do it all over again, or unfortunately sometimes it has to just stay messy for quite some time till you get the chance to straighten er out. The nature of a well used home shop. Carry on, looks great to me!
BTW, Is the old rusty lathe I see a portion of an old South Bend? If not, what brand is it?

You know it's funny but my garage looked like that last year but there wasn't a tool, fastener or gizmo I couldn't find in seconds. This spring I cleaned the place up and "organized" it and I can't find a damn thing!

My biggest problem is I do a side job, finish late and push everything to the side. Next day I'll work on my own projects and get a call or something and leave. Then one of my realtor, or estate friends calls me with a cleanout and I run over like a wild dog and scrounge threw stuff and bring it back to the shop to sort and add more stuff on top of everything else I already have dragged out. When I build my garage in 09 it will have at least three bays, one for side work, another for my projects, and the biggest one for storage and clutter.

Heh, when I first read this I thought it said GREASE the walls.
Which in hindsight would be a good idea as it would make it easier to cram more stuff in there......
What we have here is a serious case of ****-itis, ones ability to collect more **** than any person could possibly need.
Fortunately somewhere along the line I was immunized against ****-itis, maybe because I had been witness to friends who had serious afflictions.
My first neighbor when I moved to this area had a bad case, had a 30x100' pole building that you couldn't even walk through. Stuff literally fell out the doors when you opened them. Full of cars that he was gonna restore and all the parts he had collected to do the restores. Problem was, he had not one square inch of space to do the work.
In the next couple weeks I'll have some pics of my new place I just moved into, complete with 30x40x12' pole building.
I've got a fair amount of **** but it's far from un-manageable.
I have an unwritten rule that if i don't have an immediate need for it I don't take it. Yes, I pass up alot of deals but I do have room to work.

It ***** when you finally decide to clean up and throw some stuff out that you haven't used or needed for years, then a month later something comes up where you could have actually used what you threw out. Happens to me a lot

...in the second picture, there are several thin-drawer cabinets. (Blueprint/map files?)
What sorts of things are you able to use these cabinets for?
I just missed two FREE blueprint cabinets, but then I started to wonder exactly what I might be able to use them for.
I also just picked up a Hon two-drawer lateral file - for $20 - that I plan to put casters on and use as a rollaway for one of my toolboxes. It's as heavy as some rollaways I have seen, and the big drawers will store the bulky stuff that always ends up in the back of the cubby hole in many rollaways.

Bob I have seen garages where they used Blueprint cabinets as their main toolbox . I would bet one of them is here . I watch craigslist for them but no luck yet .

Until I saw your location I thought you might have gotten the one I went back to the Habitat store to get.
I picked up the 3-drawer cabinet for $25 but the 2 drawer for $20 was gone before I got back. They had it priced the same as a standard 2 drawer file cabinet for whatever reason.

No business just a little side huckle. It all depends on who calls me for example my friend is a realtor and passes my number along to people usually trying to sell a family members house and need to clear the remaining contents. Sometimes I just look through whats left and take what I want or I work a deal to take all the contents, including all the junk for a set price. To me its a thrill just digging looking for that little treasure, even better when its all free
