Those same style ones are one sale at my local Princess auto store right now for 1.99 each and they don't seem to be moving very fast. They are not really all that nice of a rack. But each to his/her own

There is a reason those things are cheap. They ****.

The sockets do not fit on the holders, you have to force, file the nubs for them to sit down properly. I bought a couple for the 1/4 sockets and promptly tossed them as it wasn't worth the gas to take them back.

Strange, they seem to fit my sockets...

They also seem to fit my impact sockets.

They don't fit my Craftsman 'belted' sockets well, but then, neither do Hansen trays.

Some brands fit better than others, a few of my odd ball brand sockets have 'blocks' in the shaft so the deep don't go down all the way, but one second with a cutter fixes that.
They do 'offer' some odd sizes, and there is no place for the 32 inch in half in drive, but otherwise they work pretty good.

Of course, I'm using SnapOn, Craftsman, Cornwell, Proto, TopTul, Gearwrench, Mac, Matco, and some other brands, so maybe your brand is different...

Nope all craftsman. Some older (80's) and some new ones. Neither would fit on them without some work. Of course after the 1/4 ones did not work I did not go back for the 3/8's and 1/2 to try them out.

1/4 I have full sets of 80's Craftsman 6 and 12, which fit perfectly. In the picture the sockets are 90's Matco, which also fit perfectly, on the six point deep.
Also have a new production set of 12 point Craftsman deep, they also fit.

I did find that some Husky, older production, would not fit unless you cut the center pin, but I didn't as the Husky are just in my spare drawer anyway.

All of my Craftsman sockets fit fine on my Hanson trays, except 1/2" drive 5/8" deep socket. Something about that one. So, I made the tray fit the socket. Took maybe 2 minutes with some krocus cloth and no more issues.

Weird. The Hanson ones all work fine, I just picked up some of the little red ones when they went on sale for 1.99 brought then home, fought with them for a bit trying to force the sockets down onto the nubs, and that was it.

I was not going to spend an hour fighting a 1.99 piece of plastic to make it work. Maybe I just got a bad tray :dunno:

I think I see the problem.:)
We are not talking about the same trays at all.:headscrat

The ones that I use are only sold in sets of three, 1/4-3/8-1/2, either metric or SAE.

The metric ones never go on sale so I tend to buy the normally 10 dollar three tray SAE set on sale for 5 or 6. I label the ones I want to use with metric with a label maker. The metric choices sizes don't match my actual sizes so that's no loss.

The only other type of trays I have seen at HF are the plates with holes type like Sears sells. About three types of those but while they are OK quality wise, they don't begin to offer the right amount of sizes.

They also sell about 4 different kind of rail, from metal to plastic.

I love the HF organizers, had a very few (3 or 4 ) not fit right but for the price they cannot be beat.

Mine seem to fit just fine as well -- I made a few mods for my really big impacts, but for the price they are a very good value.

The original comment was directed at the PRICE. I did comment that the were not as good as the Hansen trays IMO. Results vary. They did not work for my Craftsman/Gray/Toptul set of sockets. I have Standard, deep, SAE, Metric and Impact in 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" drive sizes.

Yup, the price on e-bay is looney all right.

Hey Chris, what is holding your socket extensions in place? Thanks..

Wood.

I made those in an hour one day, got tired of my extensions rolling around or having to pull them off of metal socket strips.
Just cut up a 2x1 strip into strips then ran them over the router, then painted them. Then ran them over the router again so bare wood would show when an extension is out.

Of course, I promptly bought four more extensions and had to redo it a little. Don't have a picture of that, but it just has more stuff in it.
