What a solution!

Thanks to this forum and David at BLT Technologies; I took the easiest and, for me, least cost best way to resolve the garage floor re-do issue.

An 8'x22' Commercial Grade, Gray Coin Pattern, "G-Floor" (BLT Technologies) now covers ten years of hot tire and other floor paint wear and adds a spectacular look to the garage. It was a cinch to install once the way was cleared and with our balmy Philadelphia weather it laid right out without any curling. JNK in Denver, http://www.jnkproducts.com/?source=bltgaragefloor, had the item in stock and fast shipping the 88# roll got it here in about a week. My only question is -- why didn't I do it sooner. What a solution!

Wow, what a ringing endorsement. Almost sounds like a commercial. And if you order now we will double your order......but wait, theres more, call now and we'll throw in a sham-wow to clean your car.

i just bought (3) of the g-floor mats from sams. i'm starting out with one on the floor for a couple days to see if i like, before i unroll the other 2.

i was seriously contemplating epoxy, but can't get anyone to call me back!
everyone must be busy... :-\

I hope I wasn't one of those who didn't return your call, although that's a possibility. Last week was spent "on the road" doing some business, and messages sometimes get dropped and lost when I do that.

An earlier question asked if an acid wash is still needed after a grind - if it's a good grind, no.

Actually Fred, you did email me back. The guy you recommended that did talk to me ONCE wasn't so interested... I guess. Also, tried to get someone local on my own- to no avail.:Twitch:

Anyway, in the mean time, I've unrolled the other 2 mats. The first one didn't bunch up on me- which was my biggest fear. I do have tire marks where the vehicles sit, but I'm not too worried about that. A couple issues I do see is that 1- the dark grey mats make the garage darker and 2-they really show every spec of dirt/grass clippings/pebbles etc. this is probably related more to the dark color. The rib pattern makes sweeping a uni-directional operation. Over winter, I hope the ribbing makes the water flow most predicable.:fingersx:

If it didn't cost so much more to order online, I'd have ordered a lighter color. But Sam's had a great price and it was easy to go get them... and no shipping $.

I had the coin style mat in my shop and took it out. Tired of slipping. The slightest hint of moisture on the floor and wham your on your ****.

I used them for the last two winters (I roll them up in the summer) The grooves do contain the water and channel it towards the door (if you have a slope to the floor) I did not find them slippery at all.

I have mats in my new Garage. They served there purpose but are not durable for long term applications. I have a small lip on the apron which unless you are rolling hangs the vehicle just enough to spin the tires which has melted the pattern in the mat. They are slippery when they are wet. No mold or mildew but I did seal the floor before I put them down. Race deck is the only way to go if you have the $$$.
