)not to take this thread in another direction but what size hose are you guys using? I currently have 1/2" that comes off of my 3/4 rigid black pipe. I have a long run from my compressor (75' of hose) and found that the 3/8" stuff didn't give me enough cfm for my impact gun.
Does the Milton type V (s764) attach to a 1/2" or 3/8" line? I know it says 1/4" NPT but I find pipe tap sizes confusing (well maybe not confusing I just always seem to forget actual size vs pipe tap size...)
thoughts?
Where is everyone getting the best price for the Milton type V fittings? I am just about ready to outfit my new air system and these look the best to me.

So this new high flow female coupling device quickly releases the male coupling device after it is fully purged to avoid hose whip. Hasn't it always worked this wayPrevost has come up with a new high flow safety coupler that is "slick"! It is a safety type that after you hit the release button, it purges the air without hose whip and then releases, only after the air is purged. All one (one press) action.....

Yea, little more expensive than you standard Milton steel sleeve coupler but it will outlast the standard 6 to 1. For a 1/4" thread female the part number is ESI071201. You can get then from Snap -On and Matco Tools also Sherwin Williams Automotive carries them.![]()

I use the Schrader 1/2" SHD fittings because they're bullet proof and because we use them at the factory where I work so borrowing tools doesn't involve changing the fittings.
They aren't cheap but they will last a lifetime under normal use.

I've been using the one's that HD sells, but a few months ago I had the chance to try some in a commercial shop that had a release button on the side. Does anyone know who sells those?
Thanks.
HF, Milton, Prevost. Tomco, had a different style of the same thing. Those are a safety coupler, that releases the pressure before you disconnect a tool.
I know the side push buttons do.

I assume, however, that there is a wide variance of quality among them?

Yes a good measure is how many locking balls the coupler has, cheap will have 3-4,
If you are wondering what brand that is with the blue body and the red button it it the PREVOST brand, One of the best air couplers on the market.I use this one that my buddy got me from the dealer ship that he works at. Its just a easy push in and a red button pops your tool out. It works so good I tell everyone about them they are great not even sure where you can get them but there free from him

How many balls in the Prevost release mech?
I had been using Milton Type M correctors for 30 years and just changed everything over to Milton Type V (you guys made me do it!! from reading a previous thread, Thanks Merk!!)
I am truly impressed with the flow improvement. Well worth the money spent.
Hi all,
A few questions. My current system is a mix of ARO (on the ends that connect to regulators) and Type M that connect to my tools.
Im not happy with the miltons as they're pretty much all leaking plus they're relatively low flow. I never seem to get good life out of them.
In 1/4" is the milton type V the best flowing coupler? Or is the TruFlate style the best? Or Prevost high flo as mentioned above? Are there any other suggestions for high flow?
What about quality? All my current couplers are milton brand, no knock offs.
Some of the comments in this thread indicate that milton has offshored some of there manufacturing? I actually had a milton 3 way coupler fall apart in my hands, has their quality slipped?
I like the push button safety couplers, are they better quality, how are they for durability? Can anybody confirm dirt issues? Ive had air hoses disconnect with some rough handling on my part, no fun!
What about the Oeitker Swing style couplers? How are they for flow and durability? Cost? At a former employer, we were going to that style, for safety issues, but i left before i could determine how they held up.I thought i heard that they were something like $40 each, but i could be mistaken.
I want to upgrade my system, but i only want to do this once so any advice would be appreciated. My final choice will be decided by quality and availability locally. One thing that would **** would be having the best possible fitting, but having to mail order or travel to pick up plugs, so id have to check on the availability of the Prevost Hi flo.
