What are some Snap On must haves?

I'm impressed with their 24" 1/2 drive breaker bars. Dad used to put a cheater pipe on them and stand on the breaker bar busting loose old VW axle nuts. I've got that same breaker bar now and while it shows some battle scars it's still in one piece, more than I can say for the craftsman BB's I've had over the years.

As or snap on, I've only bought new 1 time and that was for a T55 3/8 drive bit after I broke a Lisle and another brand. I've picked up used here and there, but most of mine were inherited from my dad. I did score a like new FLF80 in the classifieds last week, beautiful ratchet, had to get one after picking up an F80. I also inherited an SK 3/8 roto head that is a sweet ratchet too. Just keep your eyes out for good deals, you can't go wrong.

Love the ct4410 cordless impact, I can not express the amount of time this little guy saves me, the same can be said for the small 1/4in air ratchet from blue point. I do alot of interior and external engine work and with these 2 I can really go to town.

As I said in another thread though I would stay away from the small 7v snap on stuff as they like to eat batteries in my experience. I do like the SO wrenches as they fit my hand better, and the 12in crescent wrench my grandfather got me as it has never, and I really do mean this, ever slipped or rounded a bolt. I have had 6ft cheater bars on it with my fat **** standing on the end. The bolts either break loose or break off.

anything in particular you use those for?? I have a couple different needle nose pliers like that (same size when it comes to length) but never needed anything like that.

Dan

Actually this is the set I meant. I work on aircraft and these are for sure the most used pliers in aviation. They get in tight places like needle nose, but allow you to twist or turn objects as you have more leverage with the wider profile jaws. They also don't marr because the jaws are only lightly serrated.

Moose: I'll check out the NWS (I've been meaning to, but I don't really need another pliers). I haven't had the same experience as you have with SO pliers (either quality probs or rust). I haven't got the ones you link to, but I do have the set of 3 cutters, a few of the combo sets (9 series). And a few of the Snap Ring pliers (older and newer series). I install a hell of a lot of snap rings -- sometimes a few hundred a day and they're the best I've used, though I haven't tried the Knipex.

I have long and short duckbills and I use them more than i thought I would. They offer a bettter grip than needlenose due to the width of the jaws. Of course there are places where needlenose are better because of small spaces. Havent had them for very long so I'm sure I'll find more uses for them as time goes on.

I have a ratcheting screwdriver that I bought 17 yrs ago. I love it, but I just looked for the same set and they look to be way expensive. I have lost many of the bits, but the ones I still have seem to magically get out any screw. I just used it on some 54' chevy truck doors and was amazed that the screws came right out. I think I need a new bit set though.

Just buy some new bits, dude. no sense in replacing the screwdriver itself. and if it is broken, warranty it

I think he is missing most of the bits. That would be sweet if you could warranty losing something haha

Personally, I think the Snap-On screwdrivers are second to none. I prefer the classic plastic handle, but I haven't really used the soft grip ones much. The grip on screws seems superior to any other brand I have used. I also order all my screwdriver bits used for a drill from Snap-On as well. They seem to fit as good as the screwdrivers.

Next up would be ratchets, then sockets and wrenches. I have complete craftsman pro wrench and socket sets, but I have a couple of Snap-On sockets that I've acquired over the years, and I'll grab them before the craftsman without thinking twice. Just can't bite the bullet to buy a socket/wrench set when I already have a complete set.

Depends on what your working on? In my old trade I really valued 1/2, 24 Inch Breaker Bar, Angle Wrenches, Semi Deep Sockets, And as everybody has mentioned their ratchets.

A good set of spanners also. Snap On's are great but there are other good brands out there. Wright, Matco, Mac, etc.

I always laughed at how our dealer would start ******* contests with the tech's over boxes and chests. It worked as a few upgraded just to have the bigger box!!

their 2 and 3 jaw small pullers are awsome. Haven't found anything compareable with the tight jaw tip clearance. I think they are CG240 ??? great for gears and pulleys that are tight up against something. And their bushing driver kits. Fair price, can build on them, metric sizes too. Good steel.
