What are the best value mechanic's driver bit sets (standard & impact)

I'm building a starter set, that I want to last for years and be a back up once I can get higher quality (expensive) tools. At that point I'll build a set with Apex, Snap-on or the like.
For now I'd like to get a set that will include every drive bit that I'll most likely ever come across while working on engines. I work with small engines mostly, and family/friend's cars. I want a set that will last, and fit well.
I'm looking at the Dewalt FlexTorq 40 pc because it seems recommended here. Shockwave too but I can dish out a little more cash for a set that's gonna last.
Also the Titan 148 pc simply because it has the most bits in a set that I've found so far. But if its **** I'll get the 100pc better quality, but a 200+pc nice quality would be even better.
I'm getting a hand set and one to use with a 1/4" hex impact driver.
All experienced, field tested opinions are much appreciated. Thanks.

I've had good luck with both the Dewalt and the Milwaukee brands. I own some from each, but if I buy anything these days it's usually in a red case.. You really shouldn't need anything beyond what would come in a basic screwdriver set. (These are not replacements for screwdrivers)

Snap-on wants about $2 a bit, they come with lifetime warranty.

I think that your goal of using these on impacts and having them last several years is unrealistic. 1/4" driver bits are expendables when used in impact drivers or in power equipment, and need to be replaced frequently.

For years of use from the initial investment there's only one way to go, and that's to get a lifetime warranty and replace them each time they break. But, what are you going to do after you break one and are waiting for the replacement to finish the job you need it for?

Personally, I just buy decent quality and throw them away as they wear out and break. Last time I used a bit in a hand impact, I broke three quality bits before I removed the stubborn screw. If I reduce my air impact down to 1/4 and use bits, I break even more than that usually.

I buy the dewalt bits in packs of 20 or 25 for about $5 or so. I go through a pack of #2 phillips, square drive, and torx T20 and T25 about once a year. The Phillips wear out just from the amount of screws I drive in wood. I set my clutch heavy on the driver so i can sink the screws deep, so they cam out instead of clutching out, and that wears them out. The square drive and Torx break a lot because they don't cam out before breaking. Square drive are used a lot on screws for tile backer concrete board, and torx on deck screws. By nature of those jobs, you drive a lot of screws and want deep penetration, and thus go through a lot of bits.

I'd buy a Dewalt or Black and Decker set, or a Milwaukee, and then buy replacement bits for the ones that break often.

Hm. Snap on's lifetime sounds great, does it apply to normal wear though? I'll get that later maybe.
Back to my original questions, whats a good (nice quality, value)set that will have about every drive I'll need with engines?

the product in the link says "Made from S2 modified shock resistant steel for professional performance and durability. " Does that mean they'll hold up in an impact driver?
I'll get something like this and a larger set, for back up and rare bits.
