What are these items?

I have two items here that I have no clue what they are. The rusty machine I know is a sheet metal bar fold but it is the little item on top of it that I am not sure about. It goes with the bar fold but I have no idea what its purpose is. Then those little shim looking things in a unmarked case. Any?

Not sure on the first big piece of steel but the triangles are angle blocks, a machinist tool. They are hardened and ground and made to be able to very accurately set a workpiece up at 45° or 30°/60° or for comparison measurement.
