What are these machinist tools used for?

Went through a box of tools I picked up with a lathe a few months ago and came across these tools:

Anybody know what they're used for? They all seem to expand and lock at end, either through a split collet, ball bearings, slits or expanding tubes.

Two on the left are marked Moore & Wright, Sheffield England. Others are made by Starrett, Lufkin, Walton Tool Co. & Fedfral.

The Moore & Wright ones are I think small hole micrometers, if you twist the thimble the opposite end should open or close and there should be some graduations on the body.

The rest are small hole gauges and telescoping gauges.

Cool. Thanks.

There may be graduations on the stem of the thimble but I think they are pretty much worn off or need to be cleaned. Makes sense though.

Ayuh,.... Looks like alota various sized inside diameter mic's,....

You could probably accurately measure from well under an inch to possibly over a foot with all those pieces, 'n extensions,...

Like Air21 said.. the T style ones are telescoping gages.. Loosen the thimble end, push the "t" together, and then put inside a hole or slot to be measured, loosen the thimble end and let it snap out to the ID, and tighten. It takes a bit to get use to using them accurately but you'll get the just.. The ones with the split balls are hole gages, just the same as the telescoping gages. Both are measured with an OD micrometer to determine the ID.

The ones on the right (with the square end and the collars) appear to be broken tap extractors. I see a mandrel (or what appears to be a mandrel) 3x from the left. Not sure what the others are (closer pictures?)

Cheers..
