A few years ago I bought a lot of Machinist tools items from a estate sale and I am now going thru some of the small junk that was in boxes. I dont know what these tools are for, I am pretty sure they are homemade. They have a square hole all the way thru them with a Allen screw in one end threaded into the square hole.
They are all different sizes from about a inch to 3" and different diameters.

Cant figure out what they could be used for, any ideas?

Could also have been used to drive large taps that couldn't be held in a chuck. Set screw the square drive of the tap in the part and then hold the part in an ER or 5C collet for example.

The square holes do fit taps of different sizes so they could be used like a tap extension but only for a thru hole gun tap as the Allen screw in the end would just come out if a tap was backed out as it is in the end, not the side. The square holes aren't large enough for large taps 1/2" is about the largest that will fit in them.
