What are these pliers?

Found these Craftsman pliers today at a flea market for 1.75 what are these for? Brakes? Boot clamps? No clue but only have teeth pattern on the outside so they are for spreading.Thanks much be here and you guys are great! :beer:

those are for removing circlips.

I'm guessing that they are part number 47386. just a shot in the dark from your description.

Oops just was spray painting the fumes must had gotten to my head here ya go :eyecrazy:

they are the type or outside retaining ring that does not have the little holes in the end

I have a couple of them and mostly use them for other things when I need to spread or separate something. battery terminal ends, two pieces of sheetmetal, etc

Thanks you da man I was thinking it was for some type of ring or something. They are old logo =craftsman= and nino model # but i great shape but I doubt I'll ever use them but who knows the may save the day someday. :beer:

They are snap ring pliers. I have a set of Calvin's from the 1980's exactly like them. Snap on makes a very similar pair.

The old Craftsman snap ring pliers I had were used mainly for spreading the hooks on rubber tarp straps. The Snap-on ones I have are used for those stupid rings in gear boxes and transmissions

You got those for a great price. Quality ones are expensive. If you do transmission rebuilds they are invaluable.
They are also handy for extracting things. I use mine mostly these days for removing the filter basket in a brake master cylinder before sucking out the old brake fluid using a turkey baster before changing brake fluid.
