What are these pliers?

Can anyone tell me what these are? I keep thinking they are some types of hog ring pliers for upholstery because of the grooved jaws but not sure. Only one has any kind of marking.

99% sure those are dental forceps (pliers). No idea on the age.

Hope your not going to use them, at least not without an updated tetanus shot.

Oh my. I haven’t used them to pull pork, or for anything else for that matter. I’m sure I’ll soak them in acetone though if thats the case.
Came from a machinist estate so that would be out of the ordinary from what I got from it

They do look like open wide yankems. Designed for optimal angle of approach. Are they stainless?

No. The groove is to better fit teeth, since teeth aren't flat.

I agree on dental pliers. Two of them have a hook on the handle end, which would be useful for pulling teeth. I doubt you'd need that hook to seat hog rings.

My wife is a former dental/orthodontic technician, and she confirms those are dental forceps. Johnson & Lund is still in the dental tools business.

Keep em, the cost of professional dentists these days is crazy. You might get some patients of your own as an amateur dentist. Lol

If you already own them, keep them. They come in handy for that "just right" task. I have a pair or two that get used every once in a while.

evapor-rust them (chrome should be ok with that) to get any rust off and that will kill any cooties you are afraid of.

If it is an ick thing with you, them get rid of them. I know there have been some medical/dental tools I wouldn't even touch because they gave me the willies just seeing them. Also, I got the "ghost/haunted/cursed" vibe from them.

Many years ago at work on road construction, some of the guys were talking about an old guy that used to work there. He came in one morning holding his jaw, complaining of a tooth ache. The guy went into the back of the shop for a few minutes. He came back with blood running out of his mouth, a big smile, and holding a pair of pliers with a ****** tooth in them. This guy had pulled out his own tooth with a pair of slip joints. I guess that was back when men really were men.
