I've got a couple of them; they're very well made. Tubing Appliance Company supplied the aviation industry, much of which was in CA. Apparently they were purchased by Proto sometime in the 50's.

Curious question - why does one of them have flathead screws while the rest have crossheads?

My guess is they replace the insert and stripped the original heads removing the screws.
Yup, that's it!
I've had a couple for 30 years, but have yet to put them to work.
Would you happen to have a 15/16" or 1-3/16" you would like to sell?
