The real prize in that box is the little miniature anvil.

Yeah, I was looking at that. Jewelers anvil? I don't see provisions for bolting it down.

The silver tube appears to be a cleaning kit for a 1903 Springfield rifle. One end is an oil bottle, and the other end contains the pull-through cord and a brass bore brush. It's stored in the stock via a trap door in the **** plate.
