I ran across these tools recently and I am not really sure what they were made to be used for. Nice forged pieces. I am going to modify them and use them as Spoons for Auto Body repair. They are stamped, 110 Proto and 131-5/8 Plvmb. My guess is for pipe fitting, but in what capacity ?

They look like tools used to compact the oakum and lead in sealing the bell joints in old cast iron drain pipes. (Am I showing my age?)

Yes, tools for CI bell & spigot pipe.
The long tapered one is a packing iron, the curved one a driving iron. Now, am I showing my age??? Not really, the memory is still pretty sharp.

Thanks guys. I was on the right track I suppose. These will end up being heated, flattened, anealed and re-dressed and used for body spoons. Could be quite handy in the Body Shop

or leave them as-is and use them... There are very few flat spots on a car--you often need an odd shape or curve to get at something.

Keep your eyes open at swap meets, and you'll find "regular" spoons that are what you're talking about turning those into.

Before you modify them you may want to check into the value of the Plomb tool. Some of those older uncommon Plomb tools are worth a fair amount of money on ebay. good luck.
