What are these?

They are about 1 3/8 inches long; maybe 1.5. Took pics with and without a flash.

Found them in an old tool box.

I have no clue.

The are blind fasteners for sheet rock. They are missing the screws that thread into them. The fastener is inserted into the wall with the screw parallel to the point, then rotated 90 deg once in the wall. Note the threads where the screw engages.

I think you are correct. A 6-32 screw goes right in. But I don't see how you could drive this thing into drywall, out the other side, and not lose the toggle piece.

Back that screw out so only two threads are engaged and see if it pivots to a driving position.

I can't really see why you'd need a point like that for a dry wall fastener?

They kind of look a bit like plumb bob heads to me - But that doesn't seem quite right either as you'd normally have radial symmetry on a plumb bob to keep it accurate.

If these are drywall fasteners, there is a frame that they would nest in which allows them to pivot after insertion.
