I been thinking about buying a Milwaukee M12 Multitool - I currently have a few M12 tools and batteries so it is just the cost for the tool, my hesitation is "are these really useful tools".

Any opinions would be appreciated.

I bought one through HF and didn't know how good they were but occasionally I need to make a plunge cut and it works well for that. If I knew or needed it on a regular basis I would have bought a brand name.
I don't use it often just around the house. I use it on wood but have had it about a year.

I think it's undeniable they're useful. When I first got mine and started messing with it immediately a dozen past projects came to mind that would've been a breeze with it. The longer I own it the more I realize it's uses. Some guys say getting an OMT changed their whole workday. That wasn't the case for me. When I use it, which is only occasionally, it's awesome, but I can't think of a case where nothing else will do. I think only very rarely is it the best tool for the job, but tools that perform multiple functions sometimes aren't stellar at any of them.
I also think I may be under-utilizing it.

They are useless until something comes up that only they can do. Then they suddenly become very useful. They are great for cutting out electrical box outlines in drywall. Takes only seconds.
