I've started to like those two handled boxes a lot recently after seeing a few on the vintage boxes thread. I would think 400 maybe a little low. I would be at 500.00 in Denver. We don't see a lot of old Cornwell in this area. Cool box.

I think your right on. I like those and also think $400 would be on the high side. If its close by talk to the guy.
I wouldn't even try to argue if he gets upset tell him sorry and goodby.

That box looks rough, pass it over and wait for a better deal. I have bought tool boxes full of tools for under $1000.00 from CL. This does not happen often but I run across about 1 deal a year like that.

Those were made by rem line and are very good boxes if not beat all to hell. That one looks rough, but very useable. That said, $250 would be top dollar and I mean top.

I think the top is not your average Remline. Notice it goes full depth front to back on the roller? 17-18" deep, not 12.

Go look at it and see how the top is constructed. If its a double wall case and stiffeners in the drawers, it may be an MBC made top (MBC made snap-on boxes in the 60's). If it is, a simple "what's it weigh?" test will affirm it, as it will be damn heavy (>150 lbs) for the top alone, (Compared to <100 for the usual 10 drawer top)

If it is and the bottom is similar construction, then I think your thought of $400, maybe 5 if you really like it, is a good target. This assumes the "damage" is cosmetic and the drawers and slides are all in good shape, and no serious rust.

If that were an old snap on box I'd expect to pay no more than 400. Most times around here that is a 250-300 dollar box.

Definitely not over 300 for ANY other brand, except maybe plomb...

It sounds like you have a meeting of the minds. You think it's worth $400, tops. Seller won't take any less than $400. In my view, it's well worth $400, as Outlawsmws pointed out, it is a full-depth top. (Why does Outlaws always spot details and offer insights that I would have/could have, but didn't. I could have invented the paper clip, white-out, Post-it notes, if given the chance.)

Well I went and checked out the box tonight.... the biggest ************* i've ever seen.... first off the bottom was a matco, the owner didn't even realize it. the bottom drawer was misplaced somewhere. the second drawer on the bottom didn't fully close. and the drawers were not put together correctly at all. really not worth $400 at all... however, the top box (cornwell) was in good shape.... the owner plans on restoring it, but way overpriced for my liking

that box is worth 40 bucks imo. For that much money just go get a us general rollcab

You know, you folks that have to post in these threads that 'hey, why don't you just go to HF and buy a US general toolbox' I hate to tell you, but your wisdom isn't necessary. If the guy wanted a f/k/n US General box, he'd buy a f/k/n US General box. Understand?

That is a sharpe box for the right person. Not sure I would pay $1200 unless I was flush wih cash. I have always loved that older era of boxes.
