I've had this tool cart for years and always wondered what make it was, I have seen some identical branded mac, blue point and others so what am i looking at here? The only marking left is a warning sticker. The holes on the front i drilled and had an f150 badge there. Thanks!2fe98fd50281f1709c668f59df0714fc.jpg

I have several of that style and size shop cart. The first one I bought was a Craigslist SnapOn. I needed an extra shelf and the SnapOn dealer told me to buy a shelf at a local tool store and save $100. He told me that there is a bunch of these tool identical shop carts, all made in China, on the market. I bought a second Craigslist shop cart, this one with three drawers. It had MAC livery and one shelf. I added a SnapOn folding side shelf to one of the carts then put the folding shelf in storage. Right now, the Original SnapOn shop cart has a MAC side cabinet on one end.
All of these carts have **** casters as OEM. I did change the casters to Made in Germany BLICKLE casters. The four Blickle casters cost more than a no-name shop cart.
Everything interchanges between these carts. The bonus is, you can buy a low priced HF shop or SUNNEX cart and upgrade it to any label you add. I picked up one of these carts from a "thirsty" friend for $20. I put a SnapOn badge on it and sold it in two days for $100.

If it wasn't a Snap On cart missing the badge that is wrong. Wrong as wrong can be. Sorry to derail the thread but...

Would it be better if a big name tool company put their name on an import tool cart? I feel no guilt.

So long as they don't wilfully misrepresent what it is, yes, that would be better. If they bought a cheap import, branded it, and then advertised it as their own domestic product to justify premium pricing then that would indeed be wrong.

That's neither here nor there though. Whether that sort of behavior by a big name is hypothetical or real has no bearing on how we choose to conduct ourselves. Deal honestly with people unless you think it's acceptable for others to act in the same way towards you.

With that, I think I'm done here.

It is morally wrong to rebadge an item but it brings up a good point, the obsession with labels. We all know that the truck brands buy orher brands, rebadge them and sell them for obscene prices. There is identical stuff going down a production line that will get different names slapped on them and and end up sold at widely divergent retail prices. Is it just snobbery that makes peoole willing to pay more for an identical item just to get a name plate. Is the identical cart in any way intrinsically worth more if SnapOn slapped on the label.
It is not just tools. Collector cars with matching serial numbers are worth far more than identical recreations. A while back I had the option of buying an identical, new Leica made camera lens branded Leica or Minolta for a big price difference. It was the same lens. I read that Leica even considered replacing the labeled part before putting them on sale. You have to decide if you are a tool user or a tool collector. To me that cart was worth what the cheapest retailer sold it for. I do not get a fuzzy feeling from a label unless it is really a better product and SnapOn clearly makes some of the best tools but that does not extend to everything bearing their name. They can sell Chinese made stuff in Costco because for some that label imparts a mistique far beyond what the item may be worth.

To the OP, I have no idea if your cart is a Mac or Sunex they all look the same.

Snap-on I believe only put there badge on US made carts, the KR488 with the rectangular handles being the most common. First picture.

Blue-Point carts were the import line. The first like the red cart had Blue-Point decals on them. The later models like the blue cart have a different Blue-point logo on them and are wider than the old ones.

Regarding Sunex 2 tray carts, they are $160 on Amazon.ca and $170 + shipping through the local parts store. The Sunex has a 1 year warranty.

I bought a blue New Holland cart for $190 from the dealer and it has a lifetime warranty. The box it came in says manufactured by Snap-on China. The middle tray cost me $50 from my Snap-on guy.

The US Made Snap on two tier cart is easy to identify because looking at the first picture above, see how the chrome legs are taller on the left side forming a bit of a handle compared to the right side. I don't know of any other cart maker that did this.

So can anyone note a reason quality wise to go with a import Cornwell/Bluepoint/Mac vs a HF version of this?

If I could find a KR488, I'd get that but I'm trying to figure out if spending the money on a brand name import has any benefits as I don't care about drawers, locking tops or warranty for this particular cart and its uses. However I would pay the money if the sheet steel is thicker or if the casters are extremely (not just kinda) better.
