What Brands Are You Loyal Too and Why?

There are several tool brands that i am loyal too, and a few I am loyal to for no reason, or good reason.

1. Porter Cable - when my dad first started his construction company and needed a Sawzall, we went to the Furrows, which no longer exists, and looked at several. I was facinated by the Porter Cable Tiger saw. I don't know if it was the tiger name, or the fact it had the quick change blade replacement thing. My dad wound up buying the Milwaukee, but ever since then I have wanted Porter Cable tools. I even have a son named Porter, but he was named after the movie Payback, not the tools.

2. Husqvarna - When I was a kid, my dad bought a dirt bike that was in pieces, it was a Husqvarna I believe 390cc's with an automatic transmission. At the time, it was the fastest thing I had ever seen. Ever since then I have wanted Husqvarna tools.

3. RCA - I know they get a bad rap, but when I was young at my first real job, working at Circuit City, I bought myself an RCA CD changer, and since they werent big sellers, and mine worked great I figured I discovered something nobody else knew. I guess I was a hipster before it was cool.

Even the college team I root for is the Michigan Wolverines, mostly because their mascot is a wolverine, which was my favorite animal growing up. I've been rooting for them so long there is no reason to change now.

Peterson Vise-grips, S-K sockets and ratchets, Diamond adjustable wrenches, Estwing hammers.
F. Netz punches and chisels, but that's a local thing, and a bit of a legend.
WeatherGuard tool boxes, IH tractors, Savage rifles and S&W revolvers.

Not loyal to any particular brand. But I do tend to purchase the following because they make good tools.

GearWrench, sunex, Milwaukee, tekton, matco, and occasionally snap-on when there is no better priced alternative with good quality.

I am not really loyal to many brands. The way I see it, very few brands are loyal to us... I have 90% of the tools I will probably ever need. I like Vaughan a lot. I will buy them before any other brand of hammer. I like Occidental Leather. I will buy their products. I really like roundhouse overalls and jeans. Knipex pliers are wonderful. I love them. I like Wilde brand punches. I like a lot of the Klein tools. I especially like the D2000 pliers, their screwdrivers, their nutdrivers, strippers... a lot of their tools are wonderful.

I am pretty much over Craftsman. If I buy any more, it will be used. The same with SK. I will not buy ANYTHING made new by them. I like Wiha and Wera, but I will only buy the made in Germany stuff.

I am partial to Snap On, Mac Tools and Craftsman because of their impeccable quality and customer service plus these are the tools that my father used to feed and educate me and my brother. I do not own any HF tools but they would have been a hit if available in 1970's given their price and quality.

Craftsman, that was my Dad's tool of choice and he has been gone a long time. Lots of memories at the sears store and him glaring at tools, 19 years later I'm standing in the same isle glaring at the tools.

I started out with Wright so they are sentimental as are Fairmount ‘cause my step dad worked there. But my go to are S-K.

In terms of tools I generally give any brand the benefit of the doubt unless the tool is obviously inferior or until the tool fails me so it's easier to say what brands I will no longer buy.

- Harbor Freight
- Craftsman
- Anything with a Honda engine
- Akro Mills (cheap a$$ organizers)
- Any brand that has been corrupted by the marketeers (Porter Cable, Rockwell, etc)

1st Wright because of quality and warranty and the way they treat me the customer. 2nd Snap on same reasons as above and because my dad and grandpa we're into drag racing and I grew up around and used and was taught they we're the best and get a sentimental/nostalgic feeling when I use them. 3rd Williams USA because of quality and price and affiliation to SO.
4th and final is Makita because I just love the 18v line, they work great and charge faster than all other brand power tool I've used and bits are also nice.
Now I own many brands including mac, Matco and really I'm a new tool ***** I've got like 2000 sockets and a bunch of other brands and really I'll buy whatever when I find it used and cheap. Theres no way i can only use 1 brand of tool or own 1 brand lol I collect as a hobby more than I use them but I am a shade tree who has wrenched for a living in the past.

For air tools, Atlas Copco and Dotco, specifically for drills and die grinders. Hand files, I really like the Simmonds red tangs. Cordless tools, Makita all the way.

DeWalt burned me on a rebate nearly two decades ago. About $100,000 in purchases over the years and none has been DeWalt.

I hold a grudge.

I have a grudge against Dewalt as well, burned on a warranty. I'll still buy if it's the best choice, but so rarely seems to be.

I'm partial to Bosch. They're pretty reliable in quality in everything from power tools to consumables. I'll also gravitate to Milwaukee like many of you. Klein is another go-to, but often nowadays I'll look at the Ideal version also. Wiha is a favorite, everything I've had has been great and not terribly expensive. I love Labor Savings Devices and will look at their stuff first for my low voltage tool needs.

I'm not loyal to any brand. As someone who buys most of my stuff from tool trucks, I'd say I'm loyal to the drivers who deliver the service I expect that I feel is built into the price of tool.

I buy what I can get my hands on for a good price. However, I'm more partial to Cman since I like sets to match. I cant have 9 out of 10 wrenched being Cman and then 1 being another brand, they have to match!

So... Milwaukee, S-K, Delta/Rockwell, Williams. Nuff said.

Mac and snap on because that's what I grew up using. Dodge trucks because that's what I grew up riding around and when something needed done, a dodge did it. Which I still use my dodge trucks today.

Tekonsha.
I have a tekonsha p3 trailer brake controller In my truck. When I bought an SUV as a second car I wanted to buy a second bracket so I could use the brake controller in either vehicle, but I couldn't find it locally or online to buy. I emailed their customer service to ask for a part number and where to buy one and they offered to send me one for free. I'm sure the cost to them was almost nothin but any company that looks after their customers deserves my business!

It's not so much loyalty as it is preference. I prefer tools that work well and don't irritate me. For hand tools that's Snap-on and for electric tools that's Bosch.

Hand tools, it used to be Cman. For the price point, lifetime warranty, they were a deal to me. Not so much anymore.

Cordless power tools, 18V Dewalt.

Air tools, depends what it is or how much I'll use it.

Stationary power tools, mostly older Craftman stuff, from the '80s and prior bought from CL.

I used to swear by CM, although I have had some Wright since the 70s. I've used the wight stuff hard, never a failure.

Since Sears is trimming back the CM product line, and that production has shifted offshore, CM has lost me.

In addition to Wright, I am liking SK more and more. I recently bought my first Tekton wrenches, They work as they should, and the price is right

I am partial to Astro Pneumatics and Tekton because some of their stuff is a great value purchase. Snap On when ever the steel has to be of highest quality, like in cold chisels and pry bars.
Cornwell impact sockets for my heavy equipment, Proto reversible ratcheting wrenches, Mac, Bonney, and New Britian chrome sockets, Wiha screw drivers and on special occasions, Cohiba cigars. Normally I burn a lower dollar stick while in the shop.....

Im not loyal to one brand of tools. I have many different brands in my toolbox. Wright , SK , MAC , Matco , Snap on, Craftsman and Gearwrench all have a place in my box. Air and power tools are a mix of Makita , Snap on , MAC , SP air and Husky. Never could understand how some will refuse to use anything but their "brand" , some manufacturers clearly make gems but could also have a turd for another tool. I guess I always try to buy and use the best tools that works best for me and my hard earned dollar. I do prefer to buy USA and get a special feeling when I buy a Wright or SK tool.

Honda, very, very loyal to Honda. I've done a lot of engines swaps on older Civics and owned a ton of them, still own a couple. I've also got a Honda snowblower, push mower, lawn tractor and a Honda powered pressure washer. It's tough, reliable, easy to work on, and parts availability is fantastic.

Panasonic, I've always had good luck with Panasonic electronics and found the sound quality to be at least decent

I'm part of the younger generation I guess you could call it. We aren't brand loyal much at all.

-Stanley. Have acquired many, many tools over the years from them and havent had an issue. The tools that did break were replaced no questions asked.

-Husky. I like their stuff, was made by stanley for a long time and now by apex (gear wrench). I dont have any complains about them and used them in my roadbox for many years

-Honda. Whatever they make you can bet on being long lasting, well engineered and well built in almost all cases. The cars today could be better, but the power equipment, atv/motorcycle/dirtbike, generators are all top notch

-Milwaukee. I LOVE their M18 tools, I swear best setup ever made.

-Channel Lock. They just cant be beat for pliers.

I love everything Honda. Hard for me to buy other brand vehicle. Just bought two Honda EU2000i generators. Awesome generators. When robot become common place and affordable, I will get a Honda robot. If I win the lottery, I will get a Honda jet. The only non-Honda vehicle I may consider is the Toyota Tacoma or Tundra.

I have no brand loyalty when it come to electronic and tools.
