People pick tools based on whats available and what targets their market the best.

When I worked in refrigeration I used a lot of Klein tools because the refrigeration supply houses sold them and they would show up with with our parts orders.

When I was mining we used a lot of Proto and Wright tools because the local supply houses sold those brands and it was convenient for us to acquire them by adding it to an order. The same is true for Milwaukee, Miller, and Metabo.

Working in the oil field you see rigs loaded with whichever tool brand the supply house the tool pusher uses has.

In automotive Snap-on, Mac, Cornwell, and Matco all show up and deliver tools thus the common use of those tools.

Where I work now we use Proto and Westward because Grainger sells those.

Personally I don't really have much brand loyalty since every brand has things that are better than others. 99% of the time one brand will work as well as another. I try to buy quality or convenience. IE if I don't need it right away I buy the best quality I can afford, if I need something now I go buy one that fits the budget for the day.
