What can I do with these Blow Molded cases?

If you don't want to use them for their intended purposes, why in the world would you want to go to the trouble to adapt them for something else. The best use, other than the obvious, is what Jim VB posted. Throw them away!

When it comes s to plastic cases, I hold on to them for awhile. It seems that when I get rid of them, something changes and all of a sudden, I want that set mobile again. I kinda solved this with an excuse to buy more tools and bought a couple small sets to stay in the case as a grab a go kit. I had a real purge of cases a few years ago only keeping ones I felt I would really possibly use. Other then my 1/2" impact case last week, I haven't used one or missed any.

I picked up a DeWalt oscillating multitool. I thought it'd be handy to have one around anyway. So I think I might give it a shot this week on those SK cases first.

At first I tried to sell mine but it was not worth the hassle. Then I just threw them all away. I am convinced that tool company's make there tool trays and socket holders so big that you need a bigger tool box. The amount of space they take up is ridiculous.

For me, I like every power tool in a case, so I also adapted one to store my staples and electric stapler, which did not come with it's own case.

It's easier to store and since I don't use it often, I don't have to remember, where the stapler is, where the staples are and how many I have left.

Even the littler ones can be hollowed out to store drill or other bits, or circular saw blades.

I actually use 4 of them. 3 are large Dewalt boxes with the guts partially removed to fit the new contents. I used a plastic cutting tip on a soldering gun. One box holds paint brushes, rollers, & other paint related tools. The second holds trowels, taping knives, etc. The third contains sanding blocks & sandpaper, a block plane for windows or doors, surform planes, & so on. I don't do any plaster or paint at work. These house my home patch & paint tools. They are flat sided so they stack well.

The 4th is an old Makita box. I drilled holes & cut away part of the inner lining & added a couple of toggle switches, a pushbutton switch, & wiring with alligator clips to make it into a remote under the hood starter & ignition switch kit. There is also room for a meter & jumpers. It has been a handy setup for many years.

And I have thrown away several others that did not lend themselves to useful purposes.

My solution was to cut them up into small pieces, heat them up on the oven and once they melted. I pressed them into round forms. Added a round handle. Then I turned them on the lathe. They make great no mare mallets. Check out you tube on hdpe mallets.

I set them by the fence in my alley. Within 24 hours they are gone. I have no idea who takes them or what they use them for. The only thing that does not disappear are old tires.

Put a few rocks in them and secure them with a heavy duty zip tie...
The crackheads will think they're full of tools and haul them away for you.

I hollow, them out and put misc supplies in them that I take to the track. They're great for spare parts, and consumables like zip ties.

Do what everybody else does and cram them in a corner of your shop with the intent on using them again. There, they will sit, lost to time until your ancestors will be forced to deal with after your demise.

And the cycle will begin again.

:D
I re-purposed one to hold a cheap usb inspection camera/accessories. Mostly, they get crammed into a corner...

Well there's one so far. Only took 5 minutes. Need to clean the edges a little. Not sure at the moment exactly what I can use this one for. But I'm sure there'll be possibilities. Plus I have 3 more just like it.

In college, our student club had a grill that we used for events around campus. The spatula, tongs , gloves and stuff always just floated around, sometimes in a cardboard box if you were lucky, often just shoved in someone's backpack.

When I was in charge of it, I used a rotozip to cut the internals out of an old DeWalt drill case, and it made a great carrying case for these items.
