What color epoxy?

I am undecided on which color epoxy I want to do in my garage. Originally, I thought black would be really cool, but after reading some posts, I decided against it because I do a lot of DIY projects out of my garage and have a hard enough time finding things I've dropped. I think gray is too boring. I like the idea of white, but it's hard to find pictures of a white epoxy floor in someone's garage. The walls in my garage are a tan color, so I was think Black and tan flakes for the white epoxy. Any thoughts or ideas? I am not opposed to the metallic either, just not familiar with the application if it's any different.

I would think white on the floor would be hard to keep clean.

Gray seems to be a popular color for floors, and not surprising, it is light enough to find small itmes that you drop and yet dark enough not to show the dirt all that much.

I battled myself trying to decide on a color. I kinda wanted to do red. But it would have been more cost, and more work with my Rust Bullet flooring. In the end the Silvery color won and I'm quite happy with it.

In Pinterest there are a few white floors. I found it by typing in "white epoxy garage floors" here is the link https://www.pinterest.com/search/pi...d&1=epoxy|typed&2=garage|typed&3=floors|typed

You have to scroll part way down to see them in a garage.

Ipaca, is yours solid grey? I can't see if there any flake from my phone. Either way, it looks really good. I guess if I went with grey it wouldn't look much different than the concrete, except it would have a nice high gloss sheen. I just want something that looks cool and will also help to sell my house when we get restationed in a few years.

It has more of a silver look to it. Everyone that comes into the garage comments on the floor. I'm happy with my Rust Bullet purchase. Some pretty tough stuff. I've never done anything like it before. It was a battle. The previous floor seemed to be sealed so I wet grinded the top layer. Then spent forever pressure washing the mess. About 5 mopings and dusting later it was ready to apply. My garage is 30x40. I took a ton of pictures along the way. I should post a thread of it all. Here's a few. f0a1c711f34b977f0e8357131fd83046.jpg

^That looks fantastic! Is that the Rustoleum/ Rock Solid brand silver bullet? That looks much more metallic than any of the pictures I have seen so far. I really dig it! Have any more you can share?

It does show everything. (dirt, scratches) but has awesome reflectivity.

Undercarriage of vehicles are very well lit.

If that is of less importance to you, a normal chipped floor would make dirt and imperfections much less noticeable.

Yes, it is, Lowes are doing it for $75 per 100-125sq ft atm on clearance because the packaging is changing. . Home Depot are doing it for $119. I called their customer service and they said not to use primer. so on a mechanically etched concrete you can put it straight down..

It's Polycuramine. Cos its quite high gloss, running things like 300lb cabinets over it, does cause some scuff marks, but i maybe able to polish them out, with a DA. I'll see.

I'll get some more pics, once i get my garage all set.. Been switching out my cabinetry, so everything is on the floor atm.. but i should get everything by tomorrow !!!! and FINALLY have my garage back in order !

Overall i'm very happy with the product.

It's was deffinatly a job but when done it felt good to say I did it all by myself. I need to do a thread with all my photos from start to finish since I chose to wet grind it. 30x40 was no small task for one person.

Those are some really nice floors! The metallic looks really cool! I don't do much automotive work, I mainly just build furniture and other wood DIY projects. I do have to clean up sawdust often. Also, I don't park in the garage, so I am not worried about tire lift (unless my wife lets me buy another mustang). I would say my garage floor gets pretty light use. How good is epoxy against wood stains and paint? Will it just wipe right off? Also, how easily does it scratch?

I'd really like to see pics of the scratches. Everyone always posts pics of their new perfect floors. I'd like to see what the floor looks like after some use.

Thedoc46 I will have to go check that out ASAP. I will be etching the floor with acid and priming since grinding really isn't a realistic option for me. But that just really looks awesome. It is almost impossible to find any real pictures of this product out there. Most show just a standard grey finish that I feel must not be the actual product. I was aware that Rustoleum brand purchased citadel finishes and the rock solid product line so your comment on the discount due to packaging totally makes sense now. Really looking forward to seeing more pictures!

Here's some shots, at various times of the day. Some under natural light, some under LED lighting. Some just with the headlights on it.

I'm overall very happy with my purchase. Seems really strong. How it'll look in yrs to come is anyone's guess. My guess is, (though i've not actually tried this) is that i'd be able to compound out and DA Buffer out any scratches. Sweeps up real nice, and that was important to me !

Anyway here are some pics.

1 bag/box covers 100sq ft. That's enough to give it a single generous coat. No primer was recommended by customer support, and if you chose to add a top coat, you'd essentially be adding a clear polycuramine coat minus the metallic pigment on top of what you've already got.

It's a semi-transparent stain, but that doesn't affect the overall appearance. Au contraire, cracks and imperfections only add to the effect.

Here was my floor ground to bare concrete.
