I will mainly use it for taking tires off and what not but I also do body work and use my beadblast cabinet sometimes. Is it better to have a higher com with a 60 gallon tank or a little less cfm and an 80 gallon tank. I think the 60 gallon is 18cfm at 90psi and the 80 gallon is 15.7cfm at 90 psi both single stage and both same price and brand.

I would think those CFM's would be flipped. My 60 gallon is right around 16 (15.?). I use it for everything your wanting to do without issue. For the same money go with the higher CFM rating.

With a blast cabinet and body work tools, you should be looking at a two stage compressor.

Minimum 5 HP, 2 stage and 80 gal tank. $1200-$2000 new and 2/3 that for good used.

I have the Kobalt 60 gal compressor in my shop. I thin it is like 15cfm at 90 and 18cfm at 40psi. Those numbers are give or take number as i dont remember 100%. I use it to media blast and powder coat automotive parts.
It is very good for the money. I payed right at $600 for it new after a small discount.

Tractor Supply sells a 5HP IR 60 gallon, 2 stage for under $800.
Harbor Freight has a 5HP 60 gallon 2 stage for right at $800.
The IR has (or did have) an Indian made pump and a Chinese motor.
The HF has an Italian made pump and a Mexican made Century motor.
I bought the HF because after a great deal of comparison I felt it was a better built compressor. Lots of complaints about premature failures on the IR.
If you have a bigger budget go get yourself an 7.5HP 80 gallon Rolair for $2500 or so and forget about it.

The TSC up by me only has a single stage one in IR but they do have a CH and my step dad has a 60gl from HF and has had nothing but problems out of the pump.

Try 7 or 8 years later------nothing. How old is that equipment? You probably won't have problems until a few years later. Also, why take a $700 chance?

My compressor is at least 15 yrs old and just recently had to get parts for it with no problems. I wasn't sure what I needed called them up and he told the part numbers and ordered for me. Took 3 days to get the stuff and worked great. What's the $700 chance?

I guess that I'm just bummed out that bought bunches of Craftsman power tools 20-30 years ago and after about 7-8 years I couldn't get affordable replacement parts or totally not available so I had to junk the power tools. I've replaced most of them with Porter Cable. Would you knowingly buy a $700 compressor that you might have problems with and not be able to get parts? I will say that compressors would not have many proprietary parts.
