With Harbor Freight, Kobalt and Menards and others selling lifetime tools, what Craftsman tools are worth getting?

The premium 84T ratchets are pretty nice, and they can be had at a pretty good discount with SYWR points & coupons.

We all have out opinions but,,, the Sears stuff is ok but are great as a set for someone wanting to get their feet under themselves fast. Some of the sales are hard to beat anywhere, HF or otherwise. I generally don't think of it as a great place to cherry pick. Single items are comparitivly hi, 2 pc sets cost about the same next to each other. Sales stuff is like sales anywhere, some ok.
Last set of single wrenches I bought were metric for a remote job and got from Menards.

This.

Some of my Craftsman tools I bought new nearly 60 years ago. Can't remember ever using the lifetime warranty.

If you buy HF tools because they have a LT warranty, you'll have to put up with crappy tools for the rest of your life. I have a few of them: their pipe bender I bought (barely used), a hand cart, a scissor-lift cart, an excellent top tool chest, ... But I would rather stick with Craftsman or better on mechanics' tools.

Other than waiting for Sears to have a big blowout sale, you can stretch your budget by buying quality used tools. Avoid the imported ****. Buy quality, even if that means used.

I'm sure already mentioned, but the USA Pliers, Screwdrivers, Prybars, Punches, and Hammers are ALL good and worth buying in my book. Still made in the USA and I have yet to have issues with any of them. It was stated in other threads, the customer service at Sears seems to make or break the Craftsman following. I am fortunate enough to have a few Sears stores around me. If one gives me **** returning a items, the other store is usually good.

The only USA things I don't like are the raised panel ratchets. The Chinese stuff I just won't buy I can go to hf and get the same crappy tools at half the price.

Considering that the nearest HF is ~200 miles away, Lowes and Home Depot are ~110 miles, and Sears is 8 miles, I think they are a viable source.

Pittsburgh pro tools are as good or better than the currant craftsman tools.

Last time i was in a sear punches and chiseles were china, there screwdriver are garbage esp #2 Phillips. Hammers and most plyers are good. If your going to buy thr prybars get the professional from sears online or summit they are muck better

I agree with you for the most part, but some hf hand tools are pretty nice, the pro/composite rats are leagues better than any rat you can get at sears for the same price, I don't own any sockets from them but from looking in the store, they fit and finish is just as good as craftsman.

For some reason...

These are USA made...

At least mine are...bought less than 90 days ago for $45.00 after points...

So far so good...

Also, the set is "Online only", so they may be NOS USA made...

Pretty complete set, and it's $ 59.96...

Yes that's NOS store stock now is China. I bought the same set and I still don't like the pockets in the drive recess for the retaining ball as much as the older ones.
