With Harbor Freight, Kobalt and Menards and others selling lifetime tools, what Craftsman tools are worth getting?
The Craftsman rebranded Knipex cobras are a good buy, two sizes for less than $50.
If you have points to burn;
The Craftsman Wide Capacity Pliers are re-branded SK 7412
SK Wide Capacity Pliers Cat # 7412

...the Sears stuff is ok but are great as a set for someone wanting to get their feet under themselves fast. Some of the sales are hard to beat...
Are these both Western Forge? I can see the WF on the pliers on the Sears site. I wasn't sure if SK made their own or had WF make them for them as well.
Yes - Ideal Industries acquired Western Forge in 2009* & SK in 2010**.

This.
Some of my Craftsman tools I bought new nearly 60 years ago. Can't remember ever using the lifetime warranty.
If you buy HF tools because they have a LT warranty, you'll have to put up with crappy tools for the rest of your life. I have a few of them: their pipe bender I bought (barely used), a hand cart, a scissor-lift cart, an excellent top tool chest, ... But I would rather stick with Craftsman or better on mechanics' tools.
Other than waiting for Sears to have a big blowout sale, you can stretch your budget by buying quality used tools. Avoid the imported ****. Buy quality, even if that means used.
I'm sure already mentioned, but the USA Pliers, Screwdrivers, Prybars, Punches, and Hammers are ALL good and worth buying in my book. Still made in the USA and I have yet to have issues with any of them. It was stated in other threads, the customer service at Sears seems to make or break the Craftsman following. I am fortunate enough to have a few Sears stores around me. If one gives me **** returning a items, the other store is usually good.
