Hit an estate sale today and picked up a few things. The 10"-8" Diamond Caulk and 4" W German adjustables were the best, along with the big Stanley A6 plane. The rest were common Indestro and Westline wrenches, a Herbrand tappet wrench, a 1/2 dr Cman rat and a Kennedy box.

I went to a yard sale and found a decent amount of antique tools for amazingly cheap. A few augers for 25 cents each and some blacksmith tongs. Also bought a tool set for kids that is identical to the one I used as a kid! My son will be extatic when he gets home!

Not today but yesterday, I got a 1/4 inch drive set with rat, extension and deep sockets (10, I think) for $10. It was pretty new Cman stuff and I hit the guy up for a plastic, metric fastener gauge for sorting nuts and bolts. Anybody need the blow case?

Got a Craftsman 20" 1/2" extension and three 1/4" swivel sockets (8mm, 10mm, 12mm). 4 hardware containers, Toyota DLC3 to USB connector for Sequoia ABS Reflashes. And the big purchase..Fluke 1507 Insulation Tester to test the HV cables/motor windings in Hybrids. I can apply up to 1000v's with this baby, while also measuring the resistance up to 550 MegaOhms. :scared: Serious electrical hardware only, ie Hybrids ONLY. :rocker:

Craftsman 5-piece SAE and 5-piece metric flare nut wrenches, Craftsman 16" pry bar/alignment rod (erector-bar type thing), and a 4' Empire level. Tried to buy a display set of 10" Knipex button-adjust pliers, but they wouldn't discount for them being the display set. $40 is a bit rich for a channel-lock alternative, nice as they were.

Past couple of days I've gotten a 1/2" drive Bonney ratchet, a 1/2" drive Indestro ratchet, a S-51 Williams ratchet, and 24 (derp) 3/8" 3/8 drive Indestro sockets.

thats quite impressive. seems like matco isnt quite as well stocked as snap-on, and typically has to end up ordering youre new piece(s) when the time comes to use that warranty. i wouldve let him know how much that actually means to a customer.

My local Lowes still has some clearance USA Kobalt stuff.
I picked up a tamper proof torx socket set, a SAE 3/8 drive shallow impact socket set and four metric combo wrenches for a total of $35.

They do have a few gearwrenches left also for about $5 to $8 each.
I did'nt get any cause i have plenty of them already.

Bought a 5 gallon homer bucket consisting mostly of older Cman and other various sockets and wrenches. I think there were 7 Cman wrenches along with about 6 other USA brand names. Also had smaller set of 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" Cman sockets. Overall 46 name brand tools along with numerous foreign ones. Also an old Cincinnati deep C clamp. And of course the coolest thing in there:

Granted the one I got is in rougher shape and does not have the case...but it's still a big *** blade!

All for $20.

So what the Pawn Shop was charging .25 per tool?

Quoted me 25 cents for screwdrivers and 50cents for sockets. So I grabbed everything snap-on. Left bunches of mac, cornwell and others behind thinking he would see the expensive stuff I was picking and change his mind. Now I wish I had grabbed all that other good stuff. Guess he just cut me a better deal when I made a pile. Strange but true and going back tomorrow to try and pick the rest.

Not sure why you would need all the stuff for hybrids. I see tools marketed for them all the time and for years working on Insights, Civic and Accord hybrids at the dealer and my regular DVOM and tools work just fine. Turn the power off and verify it's off with a meter and do what you need to do. It's not rocket science.
