Ha ha, yeah that's been bugging the hell outta me too.
(Now that I look at it, the scratched paint and cob webs bug me too!)

You guys don't miss ANYTHING, do ya?

I'll do it and replace the photo so no one will know what a half-asser I was:lol:

Home Depot / Lowes sells some little plastic shims to push those out flush.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Well, my babies might come today or tomorrow so I'm in cleanup mode.

Mowed the lawn
Installed 9 lights above work benches--still need to wire them
Put up an old car audio banner
Swept the floor
Welded new casters on a Dolly seat.
Cleared and wiped down tables and lift.
Put away tools and organized tool box.
Filed down a vise I've been skim coating with jb weld.
Installed two air hose reels on the wall.
Cleaned up waste oil container area.

It may be a long time until I can play in the garage again.

Wow - quite the list! I'm sure you'll feel better about having it left in a clean state. Concentrate on those babies now!

Thanks Etek! I'll finally be a Dad within 4 days. It's amazingly motivating.
Hopefully we'll make it to the hospital, and I won't have to post our babies' birth under 'What did you do in your garage today?". :lol_hitti

Enjoy the new babies and being a father. Try to get some rest as you probably won't get much for the next little while.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Had a client bring their Mazda 6 in for their 90k mile service. I love it when people actually have their vehicles serviced properly and keep them maintained. It makes life so much less frustrating.

I flushed and serviced the cooling system, serviced transmission, replaced spark plugs and both upstream O2 sensors. Replaced all four brake rotors/pads and found both calipers on the left side leaking so replaced them. Replaced T-stat, trunk struts which were toast, wiper blades and replaced the front struts and rear shocks.

They were contemplating a new car and I advised them that 87k miles was nothing on the newer cars if they have been maintained correctly (which I feel their had been). I told them by spending a couple of thousand dollars on it now would be advisable and they they should be able to get at least that many more miles out of it. They have four kids in college right now so I suggested they do a major service on the car and it should last until the kids are out of college.

Sandblasted a bunch of stuff. (And painted, but didn't take pics of finished products, oops.)

Repaired a pesky cabin leak on my 2008 GMC 2500. There is a plastic cover below the windshield that I guess is an access for the cabin air filter. Had a crack in it so I used plastic weld to close it back up. For good measure sealed the edges of the whole cover.

Also replaced the horn relay on the 93 Miata.

Showed off my newly epoxy coated floor in the garage to friends whom promptly stepped right out on it- before I had a chance to verify it was fully cured. Thankfully it had been done the day before and no harm done. :)

Then replaced a kitchen sink. Woo. While I would normally toss the old sink, now I'm pondering if I could make a parts washer or something out of it. Hmm.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Did my first car-related work in my still-under-construction garage when I changed the oil in my van. I haven't made that big of a mess at that task since I was a teenager. I pulled the drain plug and went to grab lunch. The breeze (no doors yet) blew the newspaper that was under the drain pan up over the edge of the pan. Of course the oil landed on the paper which channeled it over the edge of the pan onto my new polished, and thankfully sealed, floor. I broke the place in before it was even shingled.

Did the 5,000 mile service on a 2012 Road Glide Custom. My cost for oil and filter under $40. Dealers charge for the same service is $305.

Used the HF high lift. I have used HF stuff since the mid 80's and have never had an issue or problem with them. From floor jacks to micrometers, my garage is loaded with HF stuff. Saved a fortune over the years.

This is my 10 Ultra up on the HF high lift for the 20,000 mile service.

Not exactly IN my garage but all the parts came from my garage.

I (finally) ran the conduits and wiring for my exterior patio fans. Damned near electrocuted myself in the process but that's another story.

A little hard to see in this photo but I'm pleased with it.

I finally found the time to reoriganize my workshop, my nut and bolt bins
put together in one place, move my tool boxes and gain some wall space.
Create a polishing area and discover my stainless work bench again.

I put primer on my Alemite work bench and every wednesday nite a few of my buddies come over to work on something so I moved my 55 cadillac baritz
into the shop to pull the gas tank and change a bad gasket under the sending unit.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Last night I replaced a bad harmonic balancer on a customers Buick LeSabre 3.8l engine.

I then had another customer bring by a rear subframe off of one of his quads that was broken. I was impressed that this guy actually thought ahead and took measurements of what it needed to be when welded back together. I tack welded a vertical piece to my welding bench to mock the sub-frame into the correct postion and then welded the broken piece back on. He called me back when he got home and informed me that it bolted right on.

Like an idiot I didn't take any pictures as I was just trying to get done to close up the shop. It was hot as hell last night.

Found the difference between a metric 1.75 thread and a U.S. 14 TPI.....it ain't much.

But the blankety blank German, more blankety blanks, tablesaw taking up residence in assembly area found the difference.....in a rather funny way.Similar to stepping, blindfolded off a loading dock.Back to work,ya'll have a great afternoon.

Pulled the truck out and went to work. It is so nice parking inside a garage. I can't wait until winter its going to be even better.

I really need to get the roof insulation done by then.

Reorganized some drawers in the toolboxes and realized that the depth of my drawers + number of drawers *****.

I'd really like a deep toolbox, anyone want to donate? :D

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Repaired the door handles on a 1998 Oldsmobile Aurora.
Original plastic L-shaped pieces now have 2 pins and a metal back brace.
$38,000 car and the door handles are designed to break.

Also finished running circuit #4 and the switch wiring for the overheads and outside lights.
Then I realized I didn't like how Circuit 1,2 and 3 were run so I fixed 3 and 2 and eliminated circuit 1. Circuit 1 was really just a quick drop to an outlet so I could run a drill, fan and radio while I worked.

I made a bracket for my new lights. There's a company out there that sells them for $45 + shipping :wtf: No way I am paying that. About 2 hours later, including cleanup, I have the bracket made for only $7

Threw the extension cord out the overhead door to plug in and charge the radar unit and put the black pipe fittings out there that I picked up today.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

I finally got around to these two repairs. I used the Legacy Industrial Super Duty Epoxy Mortar kit. The directions were a little vague 9# part A & 2.2# part B + aggregate. I measured out 9 oz. part A and 2.2 oz part B, added the aggregate until it was peanut butter consistency.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

I picked up a Second Vehicle for My Son and His Wife, for Free. (well...did some electrical work for a guy and he was buying a new Car)
A 1998 Plymouth Grand Voyager SE with 116,000 mile on it.
Spent Yesterday, going through it, cleaning it up, fixing a few small issues.

Then my Brother-in-Law came over with his Lawn Mower that wouldnt start.
Took it apart and cleaned the carb, gave it a Bit of a tune up...Got it running again.
Drank a Few Beers with My Bro-in-law, Nephew and Son.

Later, Everyone took there stuff home and I started cleaning my Garage up.
Good Day when everyone is Happy!

I added a sliding drawer to my toolbox, ran out of room in my plier drawer.

Had a buddy bend me up some metal and coat it for me

Ran some aluminum angle across the front and back for it to slide on
