I'm seriously considering one of these Gear Vendors for my '67 Barracuda. Can't decide if I should just do that or a Tremec 5 speed.

I looked at both options and more. Many of the reasonably proced Tremecs were out right off the bat due to limited power handling and shifting issues. After test driving a few other setups, I ended up with a Legend LGT700 5 speed. It's only a little more money than a top of the line modified Tremec and it's just so much nicer to drive.

I made a minor improvement to my nuts and bolts drawer. I use Lay's Sour Cream and Onion dip jars so I painted the lids so I could write the hardware sizes on the lids.

I then sorted the couple of jar of "assorted size fasteners" into their proper homes.

Yesterday I installed the temp sensor and auto-dimming mirror so I finally have an outside thermometer in my truck. I picked the mirror and sensor up on eBay. Simple modification, but I really like it.

Almost forgot to post this... My buddy has an '04 F-150 that was pretty neglected before he bought it. He had a front caliper sticking, so I had him bring it over Thursday so I could help him change the caliper, brakes and rotors. I had him pick up a jug of brake fluid also, just in case.

When I opened up the brake fluid reservoir, it was pretty nasty. When I removed the banjo bolt from the caliper it looked just as nasty, so I sucked out 32oz of fluid from the front 2 bleeders, but it took forever and replaced with new. It still doesn't look great, so I'll try to get him over again in the spring to do it again. I filled up a couple water bottles with the fluid I removed so you can see how bad it really was.

Got this done when I got home from work. Then the kids came out to play for a bit. Inside eating dinner right now. So hopefully some more work later.

Modified this 'universal' projector mount to hang my projector... it just require a drill press, sawzall and tap set

3 pieces cut off, two drilled and tapp and 4 non tapped holes to make this work close to the wall.

but i now have 110" of 1080 football

I started on my mud, with the help of my girlfriend. Is it perfect, no. But all I use my garage for is drinking beer and playing darts.

A place for everything, and everything in its place.

There is now enough room to walk around the car when it's parked in the garage, and might even be able to get my escape in there if needed. The bike will move again when I'm riding it on a regular basis, but that is a bridge I will have to cross down the road.

Not perfect, but about as good as this ultra low budget rental will get

sent from random bits of metal, glass and plastic found on the side of the road

Hi all

Don't mean to be preachy or alarmist but please don't keep automotive or other potentially dangerous liquids in water or drinks bottles, kids can't tell the difference.

Thanks!

Pulled the radiator out of my Oliver OC46 crawler for a re-core.

Went over to my neighbors and looked at his son's brand new Harley and enclosed trailer. The lucky guy just WON them in a Shrine-r's raffle. Not bad for the cost of 3 tickets.

I went with the gear vendor because I didn't want to modify the transmission tunnel in my Camaro . besides it's hard to beat a Muncie for durability

Went to Home Depot and bought a simple wardrobe/utility cabinet ($99), put it together w/ a couple of minor modifications and now have a nice motorcycle gear cab. Fit helmets, jackets, gloves, boots, etc. Oh yeah, watched football!

Nothing in the garage today, but spent some time re-arranging shelving sets yesterday prior to the rain that blew through north Texas. This is my third garage since 2006, but my wife loves this house so maybe I'll be here long enough to get some of my ideas implemented.
I love this thread, but it did take me a minute to read 1146 pages. Pics to come...

Made a cheap and dirty squaring arm for my Press Brake for those not so square bends. Just need to C'Bore it for the Neomags to get rid of the clamp.

Nice. If you don't mind me asking, what brand and model of press brake do you have? Are you happy with it?

I would like to get one for my new shop down the road and have been looking around.

Thanks.

Mike.

Had some brake rotors for another project that didn't work out. Made some hose hangers. Looks a lot better.

Mike the one in my shop at home is an Accupress. Not a bad little machine. 60 tons and a 6 foot rail and a 1 axis cnc backgage. Set-up for American or European Tooling. We bought the machine in 1997 when we first started the company. It was replaced with a number of Amada, 3-4-6 axis machines with way more capability.

We are looking at a new SafanDarley E-Brake 110 ton x 10 foot bed with all the bells and whistles. We have one coming in on a trial basis in a few weeks. If it proves out we will be ordering 3-5 more of them displacing 3-5 of our Amada's unless Amada can come up with a Light Curtain System that doesn't reduce production by 25%. We are in the battle of the Machine Tool Suppliers right now...we currently have 26 Amada's in production. Great machines but with the Light Curtain requirements now days we need faster machines to be competitive.

If this happens I will be trading in or selling the Accupress and switching it up for one of our 6 axis Amada's.

What is your business that needs that many press-brakes? Will Trump come to visit when you threaten to lay people off?

Precision Sheet Metal Shop (Job Shop) with 95 of the best fabricators around!!!

500 open orders at any one time. 1 to 1 million pieces. My sale motto: We can do anything you can afford as long as it is sheet metal and related assembly.

Lay-offs??? We are getting a lot of quote activity...I feel the force young Skywalker...lol...We have our fair share of high ranking Gov Officials through here. We invite them over and over again so they hear what we need. My brother is relentless in getting them here. Pro business or not.

We know each and everyone of our employees and their families. Last thing I ever want to do is lay some one off. I have been there on the receiving end of that and it is not fun. Thus I am on hour 15 today with about 3 more to go to keep the work coming. Taking a little GJ break...

Seriously we are hearing a few of our customers "reshoring" work back in the states.

Our biggest issue if the economy does take off will be the lack of skilled labor to fill the new positions. I need fabricators!!! Turrets, Lasers and yes Press Brakes.

I would love it if the POTUS wanted to come visit.

Replaced the heater blower motor in my wife's car. She has heat or cool or just fresh air now. Then we started looking at the tile for a bathroom project. I had four boxes left over from another previous upgrade and we intended to use them. Well, no go on that option. One of the boxes had been dropped and it would have run us short on the total requirement. As usual, the tile I had was discontinued but highly in demand...go figure. So off to see the wizards at Lowes and Home Depot. We found almost identical tile at HD and it was on sale. Sixty square feet for $40 out the door. I'm happy. Hope the tile guys get here tomorrow so we can get this job wrapped up. I'm headed to Florida on Friday.

Moved the completed pair of barn doors I built into the house and hung them on the box rail track. Each door is 42" wide and 80" tall. Now the dining room is divided off from the entry. Was able to do this with the help of my son-in-law when he came to pick up the grand-kids (girl-3 yrs 3 mos; boy 11 mos). Wife is very happy.

Had my BIL contractor over today for the next phase of construction on my garage and yard. I'm going to add a 12X16 extension/workshop to my 20X20 garage, and a bunch more pavers.
