What did you do this weekend?

Drove just over 4 hours Friday to Jackson, MI for a antique fire truck swap meet that started at 7 a.m. Saturday morning (visited some antique shops Friday afternoon).

Drove back home Saturday afternoon changed oil on both mowers, fire truck, and dune buggy. Bled brakes on dune buggy. Got my a$$ kicked on Halo by my son.
Sunday morning, got my a$$ kicked again on Halo. Mowed grass, cleaned up shop, went to work.

In all a good, but busy weekend.

I left Friday night and camped with 400 Cub Scouts at local Scout councils Cuboree. Cooked breakfast and dinner for 55 people and came home Sunday to cut grass and clean out a driveway drain.

Speaking of getting the *** kicked! I spend several hours each day (often before breakfast, after work and before bed-tme) playing Chess, checkers and Star Wars video games with my 5 year old. He's just learning Chess and checkers, but of course caught on to the shooter game right away!

Very nice work! How did you put the curvature in it? Do you use any rollers - or just bend it to the side pieces as you weld it?

I used a bead roller to do the bottom of the belt line then i made the two side pieces and bent it as i welded it

I spent the week at Carlisle showing the MaxJax and listening to all the people that think it doesn't have to be bolted down. Gave out about 5000 MaxJax brochures, and ran out on Friday afternoon. Saturday morning, I got a second shipment from Gabe, and handed out a bunch, but by noon, the crowd had died down to a trickle. Took the lift apart, and packed it into my Explorer for the trip home. Slept all day Sunday, and today, I feel like I'm going to die. Not sure if it is the flu or just all the hectic pace of the past week, and the sunburn to go with it. Still haven't unloaded the lift, and the way that I presently feel, I have a feeling that it is going to be in the car for another few days. I can remember when I could walk the entire Carlisle and not be tired, however, 30+ years later, my body just isn't up to it any longer.

changed the diff fluid on my S2000....dealership wanted 100 plus tax...
cost me 40 bucks including a 23 mm box wrench, a 24mm socket, a pump, the mobil 1 fluid and a couple of washers....

Friday (night) - 7:30pm Little League game under the lights. My 11 year old son is playing so I'm an assistant coach. These games are a blast and better than going to a Cubs or Sox game.

Saturday - Wife had Market Day at church so we hit Home Depot without her. Bought seed, dirt, fertilizer, oil, new blade, then came home to rain. I then started cleaning out the garage and hoisted up my snow blower into the garage attic and brought down the lawn mower, edger, weed wacker, and then finally hoisted a ton of other stuff up there. We then had another baseball game, which got delayed because our umpire saw/heard lightning. Then about 20 minutes later it went from high 60's to low 40's (artic blast for sure) and the game started up again. Everyone was freezing but we finished the game by 7:30 since there's no lights on that field.

Sunday - Church in the morning and then 9 straight glorious uninterrupted hours in the garage. Changed the oil, filter, plugs, and blades on the mower and edger. Then changed the oil on all 4 of my cars and swapped out the EGR valve on my Odyssey. Also bought an IAC valve for the van but I had forgot to buy the throttle body gaskets from the dealer so I couldn't install it. Anyway, I used my BendPak HD-9 a LOT and even put my little edger on it since I found that it actually has a bottom oil drain on the motor. I now have 6 gallons of used oil to take to Autozone. I am also now SO close to really cleaning out my garage. Hopefully by next weekend she'll be done in time for the two brake jobs I have coming up. Plus, I've got about 12' of Gladiator track and hooks to put up on one wall.

I spent my last weekend by adding 12” thick un-faced Owen Corning's R-38 fiberglass insulation on top of the old cellulose insulation that had settled over the past 30 years. Covering an area of 2,500 square feet of attic space in my house and attached garage.

This weekend I spread 20 yards of mulch in the beds around my house and down both my 200 feet driveways.

Another reason I've cherished my John Deere.... Taken when half the pile was all ready spread

I have also been concentrating on cleaning up and organizing my garages. For an upcoming car tour of my place. Including incorporating my last acquisitions into my garages. By shoehorning them into place. Or selling off duplicates and items that I don't need. Now do you wonder why I don't start any new projects?

Took the Noeon over to Gateway for a PDX (Performance Driving Experience) Saturday. worked on some set ups and tried some bigger wheel/tire combinations, got a solid 3 hours of track time in. watched a guy pancake the drivers side of a newer Viper into Nascar T3. that made me sick.

Sunday went for a ride on my new to me Vulcan, had brunch and then watched the race while cleaning up the garage getting ready to install the Jeep hard top hoist. BBQ'd really nice Filet Mignots (8oz) for dinner.

Ok, on saturday the wife and I put up one panel on my garage. Yep, one. On sunday missed church and went out to the dragstrip to help a couple of buddies w/their cars.
A 67 Camaro that is 5 kinds of ugly but fast. 9.40's on the motor. Other buddy has a 68 Mustang w/aftermarket FE motor. Trying to get it in the 9's. Best pass was a 10.00.
Man that's painful. Got sunburned and loved every minute of it.

Wired in parallel off a single grounded extension cord. Right now the cable is rigged up poorly, I plan on stapling better when I can get wider and longer tacks. Total cost (including lights) was $41

Saturday morning, dug another 16' trench for insulation around the outside of the shop.(previous owner did the heated slab with no perimeter insulation). Took a nap for a couple hours, went to the kart races in the evening. Races went well, my kids I help all won.

Sunday, finished off Saturday's trenching, started on the other side of the building, got that dug, got the insulation down before lunch, started backfilling. Went inside to watch the races for awhile. Took the Harley out for a ride to SubWay for supper, come home and ate, went back out and finished off the morning's trenching job. Helped momma with some of her flower beds, took out the trash.
She left for work at 9:45PM, I watched the T-storms roll in and dump a bunch of rain on us. Hit the sack about 12:30am, listened to another T-storm as I went to sleep.

Got only 30ft more trench to dig and insulate. Still waiting on the dude to come fix my building damage from last month's tornado..............then maybe i can start on the interior of the shop.

Saturday: Burned burgers and drank beer for the GF's birthday

Sunday: Ripped out a large amount of weedage from our "garden" area (new house! ) Also found an ancient wheelbarrow with a half-gone rusted tub. Used it to haul weeds away as the frame is still good. We named it Wall-E. I'm planning to use it as an excuse to learn metal shaping. Want to build a new tub for it. Actually, I just want a garage full of metal shaping tools and a reason to use them.

Friday - Flew home at the buttcrack of dawn and still had a few hours of work left to do when I got here. Went out to dinner with friends and then a night out. LOTS of sleep after this.

Saturday - Worked on my truck. Took a striping wheel to remove adhesive leftover from stripes installed by the previous owner (1" stripeS, not pin). It was good excuse to break out an air compressor. It took a while and I had to use brake cleaner to finish off the cleaning, but the stuff finally came off (I've been trying for the better part of a year to get them off). Then tried out a new restaurant with some friends that turned out to be more of a bar. However, they had pretty good food for a bar. Again, then a night out.

Sunday - Trimmed a tree to get it out of my way. Then I mowed the front and back yard (usually only do the front). Used the weedwhacker to finish out what the rider couldn't get. Washed the hood and roof of the truck. It was abused by the previous owner and I assumed the paint condition was permanent. However, it turns out that it just needed a serious cleaning. Some scrubbing with NXT car wash and a cotton towel removed a thick layer of dirt and rail dust. I followed that up with a round of claying - just the hood and roof. I think that is the only time in my life I've ever used an entire claybar in one sitting. However, it worked. If it weren't for the dings and nicks, the truck would look brand new. I still need to polish it and get a protective coat of wax on it, but I was pooped. Then I did laundry in preparation for the work week. All in all, a good weekend.

Weekend - Attended my son's Little League game, went to two kids golf lessons so the wife and I hit the range while we waited, mowed 4 lawns, fixed the sliding door on my van (that would no longer close or open - that was fun), and walked into Best Buy with $1,650 worth of gift cards and got my free 50" plasma. You should have seen the look on the guy's face at the register when I pulled out my huge stack of $50 gift cards (which he had to scratch and ring up one at a time). Anyway, the coolest part about the new TV (besides that it was totally free thanks to Citi points) is that the old TV will now be going into the garage and it will have a cable hook up thanks to the new dual DVR I just ordered.

Extended Weekend (took Monday off to go fishing) - Woke up at 6am to pack cooler with LOTS of beer, foofoo drinks, bait, and a sandwich. Was raining like hell, so I met up with my bud at Denny's for a grand slam. Got on the water (Busse Woods in Schaumburg, IL) by 8:30am. Was still raining so the boat rental guy asked again if we really wanted to rent a boat today. Come on, it's not like the fish are going to leave the lake because of the rain. Anyway, rain went away by 9:30am and it got nice and toasty. Mid day another friend showed up with his boat. We didn't catch much but it was just nice to get out of the office for the day. The one fish that got away was huge (aren't they all?). By the end of the day there was a total of 3 boats on the water, plus one kayak. Once the only thing left in the cooler was bait and water, we decided to pack it up and go in. We then went to dinner at the Village Tap (great sports bar) and then to watch the new Terminator movie. Got home at 10:45pm and my wife simply asked if I had fun today. Who knew you could have so much fun on a Monday!

I started my upper cabinets. The first two carcasses went together easily. They were the proof of design before I committed to build all of them. I still have to assemble and install the face frames, but will do that after mounting them to the wall. I believe that I will go with the height of our kitchen cabinets.

Roofing. Santa Ana winds tore up the roof over the house and garage Friday and Saturday, Spent Sunday and Monday re-shingling and cleaning up. Finished five minutes before it began to rain on Monday afternoon. Not what I planned to do but that's what happens sometimes.

Put the engine back in my 2001 Cadillac Deville after rebuilding it. It's been a 3 month long process but it's finally finished.
