What do I do?

Hello everyone! Love this forum, gotten some great ideas. I just purchased a row home in dc and am so excited to have a small garage to tinker in. I finished putting on a new roof today and am now turning my attention to the floor.

I'd eventually like to do an epoxy floor with flakes.... But I'm sure I he some work to do to get there first. What do you guys recommend looking at this floor? Do I need to do some leveling first etc? Looking for any advice!

More concerned about what I need to do to prep the concrete...not sure if I can epoxy over those cracks or if there is stuff I need to do first. Thx!

You will need to put some crack filler in those cracks and level them off. Both Alpha Garage and Legacy Industrial have a good product just for that. Give Fred at Alpha, or Scotty at Legacy a call and they can help you with your decisions.

Yes, I am more concerned with the potential for moisture in that slab.
Do you have any moisture issues?

Looks like a little efflorescence in the pic.

There was a holey roof on there for years. I just got a new one on yesterday, waiting for it to completely dry up- which shouldn't be a problem since the heat index is 110 here in dc today!

Hi Joe,

Congrats on your new place. DC is a tough area to get work done in, so best to do whatever you want to do yourself.

If you have some skills you should consider porcelain tile. It will hold up great and is inexpensive and easy to do as a DIY project.

If you lack those skills, a product like Racedeck or similar is the next best option.

Your old floor would take a lot of work, and money, to put in epoxy, and the results are likely to be less than you would want for the price.
