I found what looks like a pile of sand near the base of my garage door. I vacuumed it up but then three or four days later it reappeared. What do I have here?
What do I have here? Carpenter Ants or Termites

This is a perfect neighborhood for termites, cover for safe living, and an avenue to get water. Looks like you have expansion strips nearby and separation cracks between brick and cement, perfect for obtaining water. Either termites or ants, does not matter, you have ongoing damage. Look up Termador

Spray the area with some Bifen XTS and you won’t have any bugs. This is what I use and you only need to mix a small amount to a gallon of water, so it lasts a long time and it’s safe for humans and pets. I put a couple drops in the dog shampoo and it takes care of flees.

Partial to Termador for it's long term treatment but requires careful application; it's ingredient has been used in (pet) flea treatment. Bifen seems to be safe around animals if used as directed, safer then termador.
