Tightening a camshaft sprocket bolt and no room to get the torque wrench on it directly. It calls for 66 lb. ft. The distance from the center of the box end wrench to the square drive of the cheater bar is 18 inches. What do I set the torque wrench to?

If you orient your torque wrench at right angles to your cheater, then the length of the cheater doesn't affect the applied torque. You must be careful when pulling on the torque wrench to pull perpendicular to the torque wrench. Set the torque wrench to the actual torque you desire.

If you orient your torque wrench in line with your cheater, then you should set the torque wrench to: DesiredActualTorque*[(LengthOfTorqueWrench)/(CombinedLengthOfTorqueWrenchPlusCheater)]

I think that is correct - anyone else agree or disagree?

Wow, seriously?

Length of torque wrench alone / total length of combined wrench and extensions x 66.

There's a calculator built into your phone apps.

This is an interactive site. There are four fields, wrench length, extension length, desired torque and wrench setting. You fill in three, and it will give you the fourth. In practice it would be the wrench setting you are solving for. You put in 60 ft lbs as the desired torque and it tells you where to set the wrench.

Use this (L x T) / (L + E) = As you have it in the picture
L = length of torque wrench (as measured from the drive to middle of handle)
T = torque called for
E = length of extension (as measured from the middle of drive and working end)
