wierd, so Knipex keeps the same model numbers but changes the part? so how do you know if you have a current model or and old one. I wonder why they dont give it a new part number or add a letter to designate a new version.

Newer knipex has internal spring right into the joint. No external springs. It has got 2 crimp dies. Cutting profile looks slight different from the one you currently own (my observation looking from pics). And of-course its fully forged. Part number is still same. Also there is a 6" version with smaller capacity and no crimp dies.
