As you'all know, I acquired a badly mutilated S-O ratcheting screwdriver recently:

Well, I had a well-used EASYDRIVER ball driver, and the guts were pretty gone. What to do? I performed some hybrid therapy, and produced an EASYSnap:

The project allowed me to examine both ratcheting devices in detail, and make a useable tool out of two mawled pieces. Can't wait to put it through the paces!

Did you take a pic of the S-O after you had the red handle off by chance? (The metal part in the red handle) I'd be curious to see what it looks like.

No, I was going to photo-document the process but just got too involved grinding/making parts fit.
It was roughly cubicle, about 3/4" on each side (and about 1" long), with ridges and bumps on its outside surface to mate with corresponding slots and pits in the handle. If you look at the closeup of the cracked original handle, you'll see some of the ridges. The internal mechanism extended about 1/4" farther back than the crack.
I'm a fan of ratcheting ball screwdrivers, and only donated the EASYDRIVER because it's mechanism was years old. Now I have a familiar handle with a new mechanism.
