I came across these tools many years ago. What do you know about them? Can you tell anything about them? The 1/4" drive deep sockets are not made the same way as a lot of the other brands. Have you ever used any of these tools? Where are they made and how much do they cost? Do they have a warranty?

I have a long 1/2" drive plastic handle flex rhft ratchet from them. All I know, it's good quality and it takes a beating. I would buy more genius tools in a heartbeat.

I've got the genius extra long double box end wrenches. They've worked well. Some minor complaints - even though they are off corner engagement, they mark up the sides of the fasteners a bit. They show wear on the contact points with early use, but the wear does not seem to get worse with additional use. They come with super shiny chrome that gets really easily scratched up. All these gripes are cosmetic. I'm glad to have them for the extra leverage. I do use a few sizes a lot. If those sizes wear out, I might buy individual Mac or snap on.

I have a full 1/4" impact socket set, and full 3/8" impact set from them. Very impressed with both sets.

The serpentine belt removal tool from them, that's another story. Cheap, and not worth the $30.

Genius Tools is a Garage Journal Alliance Member. Become a member, get a great discount, and buy direct from Genius. I have always had great service.

High quality tools, made in Taiwan. Bit sockets are really good. I have Sae/Metric Hex, Torx, and triple-square.

Good U.S. stock levels.

How do you become a member? Am I already considered to be a member or is the Alliance thing a whole different area?

My 1/4" and 3/8" socket sets are both made by Genius. Was introduced to them by my uncle who picks up their 1/4" socket sets off eBay for like $50 a piece because he likes them and they're a quality set. I used his a lot when I was working for him for a summer, and he gave me one as a gift when I left. I've used it a fair bit, though as a home tech and not a pro tech, and it's never given me any problems. I liked it enough that I bought their 3/8" version.

If they made an all-inclusive 1/2" version, like they have with their 1/4" and 3/8" then I'd buy it in a heartbeat too.

Do Genius 1/4 drive sockets have detents inside the female square drive end for drive tool ball retention?

Are they still knurling the base of SAE and Metric sockets the same?

I won a Genius 1/4 drive set in a blue blow molded case more than a few years ago and didn't like the way SAE and Metric sockets had the same knurling. I also thought the round head ratchet in the set was on the heavy side and coarse. I ended up selling the set on Ebay. I think Genius can make some good tools like their zero offset extra long boxed end wrenches. However, I also feel that they aren't as good as Toptul or NAPA's Carlyle but, that's just me.:dunno:

Genius is a bit like Fuller and all the others, to my understanding. They source a product and have it labelled as their own.

I like their spanners.

I have a 1/2" drive metric socket set that I have had for a few years now.
I wanted just a socket set, and one that had no skips.
Genius offered one that went from 8 to 30 something. They have a satin finish and are holding up fine. I don't use 1/2" drive often unless I am doing some suspension work.

I did have a Genius ratchet, but it was too light for my taste. Needed more heft.
Definitely a step up from HF.

Interesting that I see this thread because I'm actually looking for XL zero offset wrenches and these keep coming up. Thanks for more input on them and also for the Alliance connection with the site.

My employer buys their 1/2 and 3/4 drive impact sets for for us to beat up on doing industrial maintenance/installs, and they hold up great.

I have deep and shallow 3/8 impacts in metric and a set of shallow SAE. No failures in 6 years of use. Will probably get the 1/2 metric if my SK and Craftsman ever wear out.
