What do you make of this hinge

I got this strange little metal door from habitat Restore. It’s heavy as heck. And about 6’2” tall. It has a piece of an inch and a quarter glass that’s fire rated.

I guess it’s just some kind of industrial application where a 6 foot door is OK. It’s a standard width, about 3 feet.

Anyway, it came without hinges. And getting ready to install it I noticed the hinges are about 5 inches tall and 1.25 inch wide.

I’m not familiar with a hinge like that. I can make something work, but I thought I’d check and see if that was something you guys had heard of before.

It’d be a lot more convenient to use the existing mortise.

Thanks

Can you flip the ruler around so the inch scale is aligned to the mortise? With possible error from the camera angle I can't tell what size that is. Edit: coffee licked in, I read that as 122mm

Also, I see you buying a lot of "one off" stuff at restore. Sometimes cheap materials cost you more in the end..YMMV...

While we're on commercial steel doors, I have an unused door blank that's normal height but about 42" wide that sure would be handy in a shop/utility situation because of its width.
I want to find a steel frame and wondered if there's a std among the manufacturers or are they particular per each "brand".
I've run into situations with "Therma true" doors where the hinge locations and the locksets are not the same within the same brand.

For some reason I wasn’t getting notices on this thread. Thanks all.

Regarding Restore, I’m getting building material for pennies on the dollar. Last purchase was a couple of 12’ sticks of heavy copper pipe for $4 each.

Everything in construction is measured width first, then height; except hinges. Hinges are measured vertical first, the width. Width is measured from the inside edge of the dap, to the center of the hinge pin. Looks like you have 5" x 1 1/2" hinge; pretty common.

Any big door hinges I could find online were either 4 1/2 inches or 5 inches tall.
Hence the confusion with a picture that initially appears to be closer to 4 3/4.

I think I had found some when this was initially posted, but they were antique/restoration hardware

Yeah… all bets are off with antique stuff.
Last week my wife and I stayed for a few days in a 100 year old hotel that still had the original doors and door hinges. They didn’t look like anything available new today.

Thanks everybody. I’ll let you know whether the hinge shows up first or I get back up there to take a better picture first.

The hinge is a perfect fit. Snaps in when you scrape the paint. The holes will need some work. Will probably drill out and bolt. The door is not prep’d for hinges.

Thanks all.
