It seems like Lowes is all over the place with "house" brands - Craftsman (sorta), Kobalt, Flex, etc. on top of Skil, Porter Cable, Metabo, B&D, Bosch, Metabo, and Dewalt. I didn't trust non-diversified brands any more after Craftsman tanked the C3 line. The multitude of brands they carry and how the seem to be jumping around with Craftsman, Kobalt and now Flex gives me zero trust at all.![]()
I have a feeling Flex is going to replace one of these at Lowe's. Likely whichever one is selling the least.
I don't see Flex making that much of a splash though. At this point, they would have to blow everyone else out of the water in order to convince customers to switch. Existing users are already committed to one or two platforms, and have little interest in dipping their toes in a new pool. New power tool users are already drowning in a sea of choices, so I don't think too many will choose a virtually unknown brand. They would rather ride a more established wave.
I'm out of water analogies.
