What do you think these tool boxes are worth?

I have a couple of Waterloo tool boxes and a craftsman top box that I am thinking about selling. The Waterloo boxes are in good shape, I did repaint them when I got them. Both have regular slides. One is missing the Waterloo emblem on the front. The Craftsman top box is like new. It also has regular slides. I will remove the stickers before I put it up for sale. I would like some feedback from you guys as to what I should price them at. I will probably list them on craigslist.

I'd list the Waterloo boxes for $150, maybe expecting to get that or close to it. $75 for the Craftsman box.

I wouldn't necessarily pay that, but that's what I'd list them at.

Dang, I was just in Springfield this weekend (from Atlanta) and would have been interested in one of those Waterloo boxes. It'd be perfect for my growing collection of lathe stuff.

Three of you did and I appreciate that, but 80+ have read the post. I was just expecting more responses. The picture I posted of the top box doesn't show that it is the deeper model, craftsman makes the same box in a narrow version. I didn't know that would make a difference on used price or not? I would think so but what do I know. That's why I was asking. Thanks

When I said listing the Waterloo boxes for $150, I meant apiece...but I'd take $125 for each. Or just go ahead and list them for $125. I usually ask more than I'll take initially to gauge the interest.

Well I really wasn't sure that's why I asked, but I was hoping the top box would be worth more than $70-75 considering its only a couple years old and looks brand new, not a scratch on it, and like I said I would take the stickers off. If it's only worth that I will just hang on to it. As for the bottom boxes that is about what I was thinking.

I had a similar Husky top chest. It was nice quality (better than craftsman) from the late 90's and looked like new. Took me many months to sell it and I think I got $65.

Here is the deal buy a box it is instantly worth 50% used it is now worth 30% of new, this assumes low age and perfect condition.

$350 for the whole set up is reasonable remember refinishing devalued the lower boxes.

Look on the bright side the cheaper the box, the higher the percentage of retail you will likely get.

Be glad your not trying to sell an expensive box, they sell for 15-25% of retail most often.

I agree with everything you said except for that last part. I think that's a little low, though it varies geographically.

Hard to guess selling price, many sit for months $15k firm, then when they really have to sell some low ball offer is accepted. High firm prices chase away all the legitimate offers and only leave the persistent low ballers.

I would love it if nobody sold their boxes forcing people to buy them at retail. That would be lovely. I understand everyone loves a deal including myself but the the way those boxes depreciate in value in just insane. I guess I am saying this because I bought a brand new box about a month ago

I think the waterloos are cool looking but you don't have name recogition. If you want to get max dollar out of your boxes, clean and lube them and remove the stickers like you said you would. Price them a little higher than you will take and leave a little wiggle room. I'd ask $200 a piece for the Waterloos and $150 for the Craftsman and see what happens. Either someone bites or they don't. Cl is free so it doesn't cost to try. The audience here on this board is tool smart and educated, the audience on CL isn't so roll the dice and see what happens!! Personally, I would not buy the Waterloo boxes for more than $100 each. The are the entry level Waterloo boxes. I have a similar one (machinist top box) and it is decent, but cheaper than the better grade Waterloo boxes.

I see that Craftsman box selling for $50-$75 pretty regularly.
